    Senior Instrument Technician

    Job Description

    As part of this team, you will be expected to successfully manage these duties:

    • Management of the equipment within the process control domain
    • Best practice for instrumentation developed within relevant legal and safety frameworks
    • Audit high risk and safety critical areas
    • Analyse and identify problems on the current control solution
    • System trouble shooting and hardware problems resolution
    • Support on existing instrumentation, networks and hardware
    • Calibration and maintenance of all equipment within the control solution

    This position is in the Engineering department at a D1 level, reporting into the Instrument Specialist.

    Qualifications

    To join this team, you will have the following qualification:

    • ND: Electrical (LC) or NQF level 5 equivalent

    In order to be successful in this role, your experience will include:

    • 3 years relevant work experience - including faultfinding on instruments
    • Experience with Siemens Step7 programming, Scada systems (IFIX / WinCC)
    • Extensive experience on DCS system (PCS7)
    • Profibus DP and PA network diagnostics and faultfinding
    • ASI networks configuration and programming.
    • Experience on historian database e.g. PI.
    • You will have experience in Process Instrumentation in a smelter environment.
    • This role requires you to be on standby, which will include shift work
    • Valid drivers licence with your own transport
    • Registered as a Professional Engineering Technician with ECSA would be an advantage
    • English literate
    • Advanced computer literacy
    • Knowledge of applicable laws, standards and specifications
