Senior Laboratory Assistant (Western Cape) at Western Cape Blood Service

Purpose of the job:

• Ensure the efficient management of blood products and consumables by preventing expiry through proper inventory control.
• Coordinate the collection of biohazardous waste.
• Process samples, modify blood products, and perform pro forma invoicing as required.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric Certificate.
• Laboratory Assistant Certificate.
• A valid HPCSA registration.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in patient registration within a diagnostic or clinical testing laboratory would be advantageous.
• Experience with evaluating acceptance and rejection criteria for patient samples and test requests in a diagnostic or clinical testing laboratory would be advantageous.
• Experience with utilizing Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) in a diagnostic or clinical laboratory setting would be advantageous.
• The working hours are variable, and shift work is required.
• Computer literate, i.e., proficiency in the usage of the MS Office package.
