CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

• To lead and manage studio based architectural education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels by integrating globally relevant and locally appropriate theoretical knowledge and practical experience in teaching praxis that is aligned with the vision of the department.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

•  To lead and manage studio based architectural education in architectural design, advanced building construction, the application of ecological principles in design and professional practice.
•  To conduct and publish research
•  To perform administration.

CORE COMPETENCIES

•  In-depth knowledge of design process and design studio management at undergraduate and postgraduate level
•  In-depth knowledge in advanced building construction concepts, techniques,and building regulations.
•  In-depth knowledge of advanced building systems and the application of environmental technologies
•  In-depth knowledge of South African architectural professional practice and contractual law.
•  Have the potential to contribute to knowledge creation through research and the production of publications and new learning material.
•  Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

REQUIREMENTS

•  In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must have a relevant M. Arch (Professional) degree, or equivalent, with architectural design and a minimum of 2-6 years of relevant professional and teaching experience.
•  The applicant must have professional registration with SACAP.
•  The applicant must submit an A3 portfolio consisting of selected authored architectural projects, evidence of research activities, and publications.
•  The applicant should present a statement that clearly articulates their position on what they consider to be relevant and appropriate architecture.
