Senior Lecturer/Lecturer Clinical Pharmacology Health Sciences at Nelson Mandela University

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

•  To facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills of Clinical Pharmacology by Medical and HealthSciences students
•  To enhance the development of fit for purpose primary healthcare-oriented graduates throughthe teaching of Clinical Pharmacology

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

•  To participate in the curriculum development of Clinical Pharmacology in the MBChB Program.
•  To teach, assess and provide timeous feedback to medical and health science students.
•  To develop and utilize a variety of creative teaching methodologies, including blended and onlineapproaches for Clinical Pharmacology learning and teaching.
•  To work together with the Faculty of Health Sciences to establish and build relationships on theclinical healthcare platform.
•  To supervise students for Clinical Pharmacology learning and teaching as needed at clinicaltraining sites.
•  To support and contribute to interprofessional learning opportunities.
•  To take an active role in research, including the supervision of undergraduate and post graduateHealth Science students.
•  To interact with stakeholders in the areas of Clinical Pharmacology.
•  To perform academic administrative duties.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• In-depth knowledge of the theory and application of Clinical Pharmacology in a clinical setting.
•  Experience in teaching, learning, and assessment of health science students from a studentcentred approach
•  Experience in blended learning and teaching.
•  Experience in the development of curricula and learning material in Clinical Pharmacology
•  Experience in stakeholder liaison and networking in the Pharmacology sphere
•  Ability to work flexibly in cross-functional teams in the teaching and development of students in theMedical School and Faculty of Health Sciences.

POST REQUIREMENTS
Education

• A relevant Masters’ degree in Clinical Pharmacology
• Registration
• Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacist
• Experience and skills
• 3-5 years’ work experience in the Clinical Pharmacology field
• 2 years teaching experience in Clinical Pharmacology at university levelValid driver’s license.
