Senior Lecturer/Lecturer isiXhosa and School leadership Education at Nelson Mandela University

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

• To teach isiXhosa and School Leadership at undergraduate and post graduate level. To contribute to Faculty administration as required.

• Facilitate the learning processes in the Faculty
• Conduct, publish and promote research
• Participate in academic engagement
• Participate in faculty administration

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Facilitation of learning
• Facilitation of teaching students how to teach isiXhosa at undergraduate and post graduate studies.
• Facilitation of teaching students how to teach School Leadership at undergraduate and post graduate studies.
• A sound knowledge of strategies for assessing learning in isiXhosa
• A sound knowledge of strategies for assessing learning in School Leadership
• Ability to adapt School Leadership teaching to the diversity of interests and aptitudes of students
• Ability to adapt isiXhosa teaching to the diversity of interests and aptitudes of students
• Ability to develop teaching materials in School Leadership, and in isiXhosa
• Active presentation of research papers at conferences
• Conducting scholarly work with an increasing focus on Africanisation and decolonization of Leadership & Management and Social Sciences

REQUIREMENTS

• Possession of academic qualifications in isiXhosa and School Leadership
• Experience in teaching isiXhosa at school level
• A sound disciplinary and content knowledge in isiXhosa as well as School Leadership

Senior Lecturer:

• PHD degree in Education or equivalent for Senior Lecturer
• Experience (1-5 years) in teaching isiXhosa as well as School Leadership at university level will be an added advantage
• Experience in supervising or co-supervising students at post graduate level for Senior Lecturer
• Proven research record for Senior Lecturer

Lecturer:

• M Ed or equivalent for Lecturer
• Experience (2+ years) in teaching isiXhosa as well as School Leadership at university level will be an added advantage
