Senior Lecturer Taxation at Kelly

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To facilitate the learning process in Taxation for undergraduate and/or postgraduate students, the majority of whom intend to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA).

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Facilitate the learning process in Taxation (by taking responsibility for course material, lectures, tutorials and setting and moderating assessments) for undergraduate and/or postgraduate students, the majority of whom intend to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA) – both day and evening groups.
• Undertake research and scholarly activities.
• Engage with professional bodies and other stakeholders.
• Perform related administrative duties.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Sound knowledge in the theory and application of South African Tax legislation, case law, recent trends and developments in the field, evidenced, among others, by a strong record of accomplishment of academic performance in the subject area.
• Experience in facilitating learning for undergraduate and/or postgraduate students intending to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA).
• Relevant knowledge of research methodologies in the field of professional taxation and potential to supervise postgraduate students or be engaged in research and scholarly activities.
• The innate desire to deliver work of an excellent standard.
• Very strong communication (written / verbal) skills.
• Initiative and the motivation to work without needing extensive supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and be able to work as part of a team.
• Strong administrative skills.

REQUIREMENTS

In order to be considered for the position, candidates should:

• Be a Chartered Accountant (South Africa);
• Be in possession of an honours or equivalent NQF level 8 qualification specialising in South African Taxation
• Have relevant work experience in the area of specialisation (taxation) as well as a thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field OR experience in the facilitation of learning in undergraduate taxation courses.

* Preference will be given to candidates who have made progress towards a Master’s degree specialising in South African Taxation
