This role is responsible for providing quality legal advice and guidance to the company, operating in the financial services sector.
Responsibilities:
Providing legal and technical advice and support to business on all legal matters relating to the different business units and their products
Interpreting existing and proposed legislation, conducting research into legal issues, and providing opinion on relevant matters
Providing legal support to the risk and compliance functions to minimise legal risk – i.e., provide legal interpretation and advice on regulatory, company and client related matters
Providing legal support regarding client complaints and Ombud cases and the relevant formal responses
Drafting and maintaining product application forms, terms and conditions documents and other related business transactional forms
Drafting and vetting of agreements relevant to the business (e.g., financial adviser agreements, platform administration agreements, Manco service-level agreements, loan facility agreements, safe custody agreements, outsource agreements, etc.)
Ensuring that all documentation used in the business comply with any new industry legislation
Attending to client services queries relating to the business
Attending to industry regulator queries and on-site visits and reviews
Training employees on legislation applicable to the business
Drafting of legal reports on various topics for governing committees
Managing of litigation matters via external legal counsel
Knowledge and experience of legislation, regulations, and industry policy applicable to LISP platforms, investment-based insurance, unit trusts etc.
Minimum requirements:
LLB or an equivalent degree
Admitted attorney (Preferable)
8+ years of relevant experience in a legal role within the financial services or insurance industry
