Job description

Strategic Function

• Provide strategic support to the CRO on the implementation and monitoring of the strategy at portfolio level.
• Lead the conceptualisation, development and implementation of a CRO portfolio management model which will drive efficiencies and seamless delivery of products to stakeholders.
• Monitor the implementation of the BUs balance score card (BSC) tactical plans within the portfolio.

Product Management
Strategic support and risk management:

• Conceptualise, develop and implement initiatives in the CRO office and provide a project management function for all strategic deliverables.
• Manage all strategic initiatives, performance objectives and deliverables of the CRO office
• Develop project charters to govern the execution, management, monitoring and evaluation of the strategic projects in the CRO’s office.
• Identify portfolio specific BSC risk to monitor specific areas of concern for the CRO such as implementation of stakeholder gap, quality initiatives plans, risk management plans, strategic ethics programme, default debt management strategy, litigation strategies in the portfolio and provide feedback to CRO.
• Identify improvement opportunities and possible areas of risk which needs to be addressed based on stakeholder engagements.
• Provide support to the CRO with actions based on outcomes of internal engagements and track progress thereof.
• Provide support to the CRO and advise where applicable on strategic matters relating to the CRO’s organisational strategic commitments.
• Conduct continuous and regular environmental scanning to identify new developments, trends and risks which may impact the successful implementation of the AGSA strategy.
• Continuously monitor and ensure that relevant mitigating factors are put in place to manage potential impact of risks.

Reporting:

• Track and review all portfolio reports including BU quarterly reports and provide input into the relevant quarterly reporting.
• Ensure that all products/services including reports/messages adhere to the relevant quality standards as agreed with the CRO.
• Act as first line of review for proposals and requests for approvals presented to the office of the CRO.
  Preparing executive summaries of documentation, articles and reports, as requested by the CRO.

Stakeholder Management

• Develop and manage a comprehensive CRO stakeholder engagement plan
• Build and maintain positive and value-adding relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide strategic support and guidance to key stakeholders and BU management in order to ensure alignment.
• Scan the environment to ensure a clear understanding of stakeholder needs.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and facilitate the implementation of stakeholder programmes based on the CRO’s customised stakeholders and strategic plan.
• Coordinate the CRO visits and interactions with the BU leadership teams within the portfolio.

People Management

• Contribute to improving the Culture Index for the respective portfolios by monitoring ethical culture within the portfolio, reporting and highlighting emerging trends to the CRO.
• Provide support to the CRO in the implementation of the activities outlined on the portfolio People Plan.
• Manage own performance to drive productivity.
• Provide support to the CRO in the cascading of the vision achievement/ organisation alignment messages and commitments.

Financial management and operational management

• Responsible for compiling the portfolio budget.
• Manage the portfolio budget, income and cost to ensure adherence to the required financial performance standards for the portfolio
• Monitor the portfolio debtor’s collection.
• Ensure compliance with internal processes and procedures.

Other responsibilities 

• Perform and/or manage other projects, tasks and assignments delegated by the CRO not stipulated in the role profile description as and when required.

Minimum requirements

Formal Education 

• This position requires a minimum qualification of CA (SA) qualification, MBA, or equivalent.

Experience 

•  A minimum of 7 years’ experience (post qualification), of which 5 years should have been at manager level in an audit or risk management environment.
