    Senior Manager, Data Lifecycle Management

    • The Senior Manager, Data Lifecycle Management (Governance) plays a critical role in operationalising Group Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) policies across the enterprise. While Group Risk and Compliance defines the regulatory and ethical "rulebook," this role ensures those rules are successfully embedded, applied, and sustained in practice throughout the data lifecycle. The position ensures that policy requirements are translated into actionable processes, governance structures, and operational outcomes that protect the organisation’s data and reputation.

    Key Responsibilities

    Policy Application

    • Translate GRC’s high-level policies into actionable and sustainable operational processes.
    • Implement and enforce rules for data encryption, classification, and retention.
    • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards across business units.

    Remediation

    • Drive remediation efforts based on audit findings, gaps, or compliance failures.
    • Maintain audit traceability and readiness for both internal and external reviews.
    • Partner with data owners and stewards to resolve compliance issues effectively.

    Records Management & Retention

    • Enforce records retention policies, including application of legal holds.
    • Oversee secure archival and deletion processes in alignment with legal and corporate standards.

    Governance Structures

    • Establish and chair Data Forums and Councils to oversee strategic governance topics.
    • Implement monitoring and reporting frameworks to ensure transparency, accountability, and oversight.

    Role Definition & RACI

    • Define and institutionalise clear roles for data ownership and stewardship.
    • Embed RACI frameworks to establish accountability across the full data lifecycle.

    Standardisation & Taxonomy

    • Promote standard data models, taxonomies, and classification schemes across platforms.
    • Ensure consistent data exchange and alignment across the enterprise.

    Integration & Transformation

    • Oversee data lineage, traceability, and flow across systems.
    • Enable visibility and control through metadata management and cataloging.

    Demand & Operational Handover

    • Establish readiness and ownership criteria for transitioning products into operations.
    • Align demand management with Enterprise Architecture and ATS frameworks.

    Business Process Design

    • Define lifecycle checkpoints (e.g., customer onboarding, offboarding).
    • Map workflows, validation gates, and automation triggers into business processes.

    Global Data Map Creation

    • Lead the creation of a hierarchical data map across regions, domains, and subdomains.
    • Enable visibility, governance alignment, and ownership across the enterprise.

    Key Relationships

    • Group Risk & Compliance: Collaborates closely to ensure policy requirements are accurately translated into practice.
    • Data Owners & Stewards: Provides guidance, governance frameworks, and support to enforce standards.
    • Business & IT Stakeholders: Partners to operationalise lifecycle controls within systems and processes.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Deep understanding of data governance, lifecycle management, and compliance frameworks.
    • Strong knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements relating to data protection and privacy.
    • Expertise in audit preparation, remediation planning, and operational enablement.
    • Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to bridge policy intent and business execution.
    • Strong leadership skills with experience establishing governance structures and cross-functional alignment.
