    Senior Manager Solutions & Application Services Development

    Core Description    

    • Responsible Provide vision and leadership to various multifunctional software development teams
    • Develop, manage and prepare the software development, testing and application support team
    • Conduct regular performance appraisals with the team and assist in setting targets / objectives
    • Recognise good performance, identify and manage under performance and represent development, testing and application support teams at senior management level
    • Manage Team Leads to enable delegation and resource control within the project lifecycle from inception to completion.
    • Ensure best practice adherence of software, testing and application support principles and practices to achieve efficient and clean code by the development teams
    • Define software & testing strategy, plans and architecture to ensure solutions meet current and future needs for the business.
    • Lead the implementation of the software, testing and application support strategy to meet the business systems requirements
    • Manage the provision, maintenance and support of technology infrastructure
    • Oversee and manage infrastructure service operations provided by internal or external stakeholders
    • Manage strategic relationships with key service providers
    • Study and understand IT industry trends on current and future enterprise development and testing needs and projects
    • Review applicability and make improvement recommendations on infrastructure and technology.
    • Interface with other business units to define infrastructure support initiatives and solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness
    • Define software, testing and support in collaboration with stakeholders.
    • Work in collaboration with security team to ensure security levels on application and services are up to date.
    • Frequently interacts with supervisors and functional peer group managers internal and external to Telkom.

    Qualifications    

    • 3 year Bachelors Degree or equivalent qualification (IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering) required (NQF level 6)

    Experience    

    • 7 years of Software Development experience of which 3 years on management level including management of Software development teams with demonstrable skills of project delivery

    Special Requirements    

    • Experience managing software development teams
    • Experience and understanding of technical considerations for cross product project
    • A record of successful delivery of software applications as an individual, team leader and Software Development Manager
    • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • Strong understanding of software development cycles and quality assurance processes.
    • Strong understanding of QA, software testing automation and DevOps
    • The ability to build applications within an enterprise environment.
    • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals
    • An understanding of applications architecture as well as the general software development landscape
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to customers, executives and non-technical leaders
