    Senior Procurement Officer (EPC Mining Projects - NEC/Fidic Contracts) – Sandton

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
    • A master’s degree is a plus.
    • Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) is a plus. 

    Experience:

    • Proven experience in procurement specifically Project Procurement, with at least 5 years in a senior procurement role within an EPC Projects business.
    • Exposure to the Engineering Industry.
    • Good understanding of supply chain processes. 

    Knowledge required:

    • In- depth knowledge of procurement best practices, laws and regulations.
    • Knowledge of procurement administration and coordination of procurement documentation.
    • Engineering industry knowledge.
    • Aptitude in prioritizing tasks and working with numbers.
    • General knowledge of projects, contracts and office administration.
    • Project procurement skills and knowledge.
    • Creation & filing of purchase requisitions & orders via electronic media.
    • Knowledge of finance & commercial terms i.e. transport INCO terms, budgets, cost codes, contract terms & conditions.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft office software & in particular Excel & Word.
    • Microsoft Dynamics (MSD) ERP software knowledge. 

    Skills:

    • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain vendor relationship.
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Proficiency in using procurement software and tools.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to ethical procurement practices.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Strategic Procurement

    • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise cost, quality, and efficiency.

    Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs. 
    Vendor Management

    • Identify, evaluate and select suppliers and contractors. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favourable terms. Maintain positive relationship with vendors. 

    Compliance

    • Ensure all procurement adhere to relevant laws, regulations and organisational policies.

    Monitor and update procurement procedures as needed.
    Cost control

    • Monitor and control procurement budgets. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to reduce procurement expenses.

    Sourcing

    • Source and procure a wide range of goods and services including raw materials, equipment and services while maintaining quality and reliability.
       

    Inventory management

    • Oversee inventory levels, ensuring an adequate supply necessary materials while minimizing excess stock. 

    Team leadership

    • Supervise and provide guidance to the procurement team. Foster a positive and productive work environment.

    Quality Assurance

    • Collaborate with quality control and assurance team to ensure procured products and services meet established quality standards.

    Data analysis

    • Analyse procurement data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement. Use data to make informed procurement decisions. 

    Reporting

    • Prepare and present reports to management, summarising procurement activities, savings, and performance metrics.
