Senior Professional Officer- Data Analyst at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification (honours or 4-year degree), preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Operations
• Research, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance or related field;
• Five (5) to eight (8) years’ relevant experience;
• Experience with industry-standard data modelling and plotting platforms such as Microsoft Excel &/ Power BI, Tableau, Elastic Kibana, SAP Analytics Cloud would be advantageous;
• Local government knowledge and experience will be beneficial.

Key Performance Areas

• Translate data into valuable insights and solutions that inform decision making.
• Understand and develop knowledge of data cleansing and standardisation.
• Interpret requirements and present data in clear and compelling graphical representations and data visualizations.
• Conduct data quality assurance, validation and linkage
• Apply statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques.
• Continually develop data analysis knowledge, using multiple
• sources, while sharing data analysis practices across departments and the industry.
• Understand data sources, data organisation and storage, and ensure data management.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical officials
• Ensure appropriate and clear communication with various audiences.
• Identify potential risks and conceptualise possible solutions to mitigate risk, and implement and monitor solutions.
• Conduct research in various areas of innovation, with the intent of improving the data products.
• Manage and monitor internal stakeholder relationships to align on priorities, scope and timelines of requested products
