    Senior Professional Officer - Quantity Surveying and Contract Administration

    Requirements

    • A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably a BTech or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Studies, or relevant BTech or Degree in Construction Management.
    • Registration as a Candidate or Professional Quantity Surveyor with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) is required.
    • To have at least 5 years relevant experience within Quantity Surveying environment.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to think independently; provide strategic direction; and effectively and efficiently organise, analyse, set goals, administer, guide, integrate and implement systems, plans, standards and procedures.
    • Proficiency and competency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and SharePoint.
    • A valid driver’s license with own reliable transport and the ability to travel extensively to city sites.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Rendering strategic support and a high-level consulting and advisory service to Water & Sanitation Directorate including Business Intelligence Reporting and providing input into the Water and Sanitation Risk Register.
    • Assist with tender document compilation and evaluations of tenders for various civil, architectural, electrical and mechanical engineering projects.
    • Financially administer and financial control of projects including assessing interim payments, contract price adjustment calculations, costing of variations, analysis of contingencies, specific contractual advice during construction up to finalization and reporting.
    • Co-ordinate the Quantity Surveying functions as per internal Quantity Surveying division processes and procedures.
    • Coordination and development of Cost Models and Cost Benchmarking information including preparation of cost estimates used in project budget when requested upon.
    • Ensure effective liaison with the Client branch project managers and consultants by meeting the project timelines agreed with the Client Branch
