Senior Professional Officer: Waste Water Treatment Works at Stellenbosch Municipality

Minimum requirements: 

• National Diploma (NQF 6) in Water Care/Chemical Engineering/ Civil Engineering with major in Wastewater 
• Eligible to Register/Registered as a Class V Process Controller (Wastewater) as per R 3630 or its amendment 
• At least 5-years relevant experience of which 2-years must have been in a supervisory role 
• In-depth knowledge of SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) 
• A valid Code B Driver’s license 
• Basic literacy with respect to Microsoft Office software, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other related software programs

Other Requirements: 

• Strong technical writing and communication skills 
• Strong analytical – and interpretation skills relevant laws, regulations, policies, best practices, etc. High level of responsibility 
• Ability to give attention to detail Mathematical skills 
• Interpersonal skills 
• Strong working knowledge on relevant wastewater engineering principles in civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, hydrogeology, etc. 
• Very strong knowledge in different applied technologies such as Membrane Technology 
• Willingness to work after normal working hours, and during emergencies 
• Solution seeking abilities 
• Planning and organisational skills 
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines 
• Supervisory skill 
• Language proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (English, Xhosa and Afrikaans).
