    Senior Project Procurement Manager - Construction

    Job Description:

    Strategically manage the end-to-end project procurement service, (sourcing and contracts management, security of supply, safe and sustainable supply, inclusive procurement, optimal supplier innovation & performance) for Anglo American Growth and Stay-in-Business projects to the region within which it operates.

    Safety, Health & Environment

    • Set the safety, health and sustainability global performance standards and take accountability for the implementation and performance monitoring of these throughout the region, and with suppliers and contractors.
    • Ensure full global compliance with the Contractor Performance Management safety policy & procedures.
    • Drive a culture of zero fatalities and zero injuries within direct team and broader organization.

    Performance & Delivery
    General

    • Translate the overall global Supply Chain Strategy into a regional Project Procurement strategy (including critical tasks, resources, budget and performance targets).
    • Develop and implement appropriate Sourcing & Contract Management strategies to support BU Project needs and improved value delivery with a focus on cost reduction, working capital and TCO initiatives.
    • Drive effective planning through adequate external Supply Chain project resource allocation to successfully execute the project procurement pipeline across various disciplines.
    • Accountable for end-to-end Supply Chain Project Procurement operational performance and excellence, adhering to critical paths and deadlines and removing roadblocks which impact project delivery.

    Commercial value delivery & Supplier Partnering

    •  Design and implement project procurement strategies that improve efficiency and speed of execution across various projects.
    • Lead Anglo American negotiations for regional project contracts to maximize value from suppliers.
    • Manage and oversee regional Project Procurement Contract Sourcing and Tender processes.
    • Accountable for effective and efficient execution of project procurement contracts administration activities and contractual risk mitigation.
    • Strategically manage key suppliers ensuring joint value creation.
    • Accountable for supplier performance management across respective categories and regions.
    • Build relationships with key stakeholders to enable effective and agile project procurement management delivery.

    Inclusive Procurement

    • Develop and drive an Inclusive Procurement programme to identify initiatives that are targeted at increasing host community procurement participation.
    • Support a strategic approach across commercial work where communities are central to all commercial strategies, agreements and associated initiatives.

    Contractor Management & AOP support

    • Ensure development of performance and safety scorecards for Regional Project Procurement suppliers, through reviews and data interpretation.
    • Support the Project Team, Supply Chain Manager and Company Representative functions in the implementation and operationalisation of Growth and Stay-in-Business projects, as well as continued contractor management initiatives and AOP process support.

    Sustainability & Social

    • Drive the Anglo-American Sustainability agenda with Suppliers through cross collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on circular economy and responsible sourcing opportunities and plans.
    • Support strong connectivity with regional materials management and warehousing teams to ensure alignment on future demand requirements, working capital optimization opportunities and the resolution of supplier non-performance.

    Supply Chain Excellence

    • Align with the Centre of Excellence on digitization opportunities with suppliers and collaborate for potential implementation.
    • Compliance & Governance
    • Ensure compliance to all Project Procurement Sourcing and Contract Management policies, standards, tools and methods, and applicable legislative requirements.

    People & Teams

    • Lead and ensure cross functional team interactions to execute agile sourcing and contracting activities.
    • Allocate work and manage team performance effectively.
    • Effectively mobilise external Supply Chain project resources.
    • Embrace an agile Supply Chain by being adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities

    Qualifications:

    • Qualification: An undergraduate qualification - Bachelor degree level or equivalent
    • Experience: Proven track record of extensive practical experience in relevant field
    • Desirable:  A postgraduate qualification (Honours/ Masters degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity

    Technical Knowledge:

    • Good technical knowledge across the Supply Chain value chain with the ability to integrate various fields (Projects, Commercial, Physical Supply Chain, Supplier Management, Purchasing)
    • Extensive Project Procurement Management experience
    • Experience of managing high value projects 
    • Safety & Sustainability as it relates to Supply Chain
    • Working knowledge of regional and local legislative and Anglo American requirements pertaining to Inclusive Procurement and Responsible Sourcing
    • Strong commercial, negotiation and deal-making, business case development, investment appraisal skills
    • Project Management skills and experience (agile preferred)
    • Sourcing & Contracting with TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) approach
    • Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
    • Business Planning and Business Case development
    • Critical and systems thinking capability
    • Ability to communicate in English (advanced level for verbal and written)
    • Able to work very effectively in a virtual environment with own team, key internal & external stakeholders and suppliers
