Senior Quality Assurance Lead at Out There Media

Overview and Responsibilities

In this position you will be required to support our highly experienced and international development team by designing and running test scenarios to improve the quality of the finished products ensuring that all products are of high quality with no defects or bugs. You will build on your solid technical background and develop your knowledge and experience in general software test methodologies including requirements gathering, functional tests, customer scenario testing, test plan and test case creation and, stress, performance and scalability testing.

After training you will also be required to support the customer facing technical helpdesk, leading the UATs and assist our customers meeting the needs of Out There Media’s operations both in South Africa and other regions as needed.

In this role you will be actively involved and support the Product development quality, the product Development Life-Cycle but also dynamically contribute to the Product Development Documentation process as follows:

Product Development Quality, Testing & Improvement

• Proactively lead all technical testing efforts which include integration testing and performance testing.
• Conduct end-to-end testing, including automated testing, that will assess the functionality of the product that has been built to ensure that the client receives high quality products.
• Oversee and manage the end-to-end UAT testing process with clients and make use of their feedback for improvement or enhancement purposes. Ensure a smooth and complete customer experience.
• Design, create and implement test scenarios and test scripts that will identify any defects and bugs and assist in highlighting the products areas of improvement as to ensure top quality end results.
• Conceptualize and build the necessary testing tools needed for automation and support.
• Provide production support of software products by investigating and recreating reported defects in order to ensure that these defects and issues are permanently removed before client use.
• Ensure that Quality of Service (QoS) levels of software products are high and in line with the required standards through conducting performance test benchmarking.
• Create and implement QA standards and continuous product improvement activities to ensure that the final product that the client receives is of high quality and in line with the standards and requirements.
• Ensure that all bugs are captured as bug tickets in Jira, and that the urgency and severity of the bug is noted on the ticket. Once a developer has resolved the bug, re-test to ensure that the fix has worked.

Software Development Life-Cycle

• Actively contribute to the entire software development life-cycle by attending all meetings when a new product is being explored, developed and tested.
• Continuously work with multiple database interfaces as to ensure that the role is highly familiar with standard web architectures.
• Proactively write and update the detailed user guides for the consumer users and mobile operators.

Product Development Documentation

• Assist in the write up of product development documentations which include release notes and user manuals.
• Make sure that all the technical documentation that is related to the development process is in place and up to date. These documentations need to include the business requirement specifications, business requirement scope changes, release notes and release and post release bug management.
• Ensure that all the existing documentation is consistently updated with the newest release of the software and create new documentation as and when needed.
• Collaborate with the relevant teams (e.g. developers, product managers) to collect the necessary content that will be needed for the write-up of the documentation.
• Maintain a safe and secure file library where all technical documentation is stored and easily accessible when needed.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science / Mathematics or a relevant discipline is required.
• 5+ years’ experience in Software Systems Testing and Quality Assurance. This includes designing and implementing test plans, scripts and scenarios and ensuring a defect/bug-free experience on products and platforms involved with.
• Proven previous experience with designing and implementing automated tests.
• Good knowledge of SQL, Java and JavaScript.
• Experience in writing technical documentation (UML).
• Experience conducting and supporting user acceptance testing (UAT) with clients.
• Experience working with Jira and the Atlassian product suite is mandatory.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
