Senior Rail Overhead Wiring and Traction Power Designer - Tshwane at Zutari

Responsibilities:

• Be a leading member of a key group of design/modelling engineers, technologists and draughters who are focused on the delivery of projects in a digitally innovative environment, working in the Rail group of the Global Design Centre, undertaking design work for projects in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Africa.
• Use your 10+ years’ rail Overhead Wiring Equipment (Electrical) and/or Traction Power experience in a senior Electrical Engineering Designer role to advance Electric Traction Power delivery designs within integrated, complex project environments. 
• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, ensure coordination and conformity between discipline interfaces and separate design offices in remote locations.
• Lead and manage a group performing Design and Draughting of Overhead Wiring / Traction Power infrastructure including:
• Track electrification layouts
• Mast structures, foundations, components and line fittings 
• Earthing and return bonding layouts
• Extent of electrification and electrical switching diagrams
• OHTE arrangements e.g. cantilevers, return conductor suspension, overlaps, weight tension devices, make-offs, mid-point anchors, switch sectioning and feeding arrangements
• Traction Power Feeder Stations and input and output feeders
• As-built drawings
• Review quality of work produced by junior designers and drafters under your management, prior to issuing deliverables to our team in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Africa.
• Be able to review and assess designs against relevant standards applicable in external markets.  Knowledge of applicable standards in Australia and / or New Zealand would be beneficial.
• Experience in Navisworks, Electrical Traction Power Flow simulation software, 3D modelling software, and Projectwise is advantageous.

• Strong networking and relationship building skills within Zutari and the corresponding remote offices.
• Establish and maintain effective internal communication processes that ensure the flow of relevant information.
• Achievement and action orientated with a strong service focus and well-developed execution skills.
• Interpersonal skills – communication, relationship building, collaboration and influencing without authority.
• Professional Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa is required.
• A Tertiary qualification commensurate with the candidate’s experience and in line with the requirements of a senior leadership position is required. B.Eng and B.Tech Electrical would be advantageous.
