Senior Safari Travel Designer – Inbound Southern Africa (Remote)
A boutique luxury safari lodge group in the Greater Kruger region is looking for an experienced Senior Safari Travel Designer to establish and develop its inbound travel and reservations function.
This is a newly created role with responsibility for designing and selling bespoke safari itineraries for international trade partners and direct guests, combining the group’s own luxury lodges with complementary destinations and experiences across Southern Africa.
The position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to build the function from the ground up, with the potential to develop and lead a team as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Manage enquiries from international tour operators, travel agents and direct guests
Design, cost and quote tailor-made luxury safari itineraries across Southern Africa
Combine the group’s own lodges with complementary destinations such as Victoria Falls and other leading safari properties
Develop and maintain strong relationships with international travel trade partners
Manage bookings from initial enquiry and itinerary design through to confirmation and guest handover
Work closely with the lodges and internal teams to ensure a smooth booking process
Establish the systems, processes and structure required for a dedicated reservations and travel function
Contribute to the growth of the department, with the opportunity to recruit and manage a team in the future
Requirements
3–5 years’ experience in inbound Southern African travel, reservations or bespoke itinerary design
Strong knowledge of Southern Africa's luxury safari and lodge market
Existing relationships with international tour operators and travel agents
Experience designing and quoting tailor-made FIT itineraries
Strong commercial and sales ability, with an understanding of margins and conversion
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Professional and confident when dealing with international trade partners and guests
Highly organised and able to work independently in a remote environment
A self-starter who is comfortable building a new function and taking ownership
Experience using travel, reservations or booking systems, with the ability to learn new software quickly
