Senior Specialist: Solution Architect at Vodacom

Role Purpose

The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and leading the implementation of solutions and capability architecture for a particular business capability/user journey, according to the overall digital vision and target architecture. This role is responsible for the technical analysis and holistic solution design of future capabilities and features, including external dependencies, cross-domain APIs, and technical enablers/stories. It is responsible for reviewing the target architecture vision and roadmap, evaluating and prioritizing roadmap items, and translating them into designs and non-functional requirements. It is also responsible for providing support to engineering to ensure the development of technical stories are aligned to defined architecture paradigms, principles, and patterns.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• To perform solution design activities by assessing requirements in terms of feasibility, impact, and cost, thereby advising and compiling accurate user requirements that are technically feasible and optimal to implement.
• To maintain, re-evaluate, optimize or automate existing business processes.
• To provide technical guidance into system definition and design activities and drive the delivery of value-added solutions.
• Deliver an end-end Product Architecture (Design) for the Enterprise product roadmap.
• Deliver Technical Impact Assessment (TIA) for a new Enterprise product.
• Responsible to craft Solution Designs by leveraging existing network and also defining new network designs where there is a need.
• Build design principles s for the Enterprise product architecture in Vodacom.
• Investigate and research on Enterprise product and solution architecture principles in-line with industry best practices.
• Maintain sound relationships with technology partners within the Network and Information Technology groups, suppliers and internal customers.
• Provide technical coordination of projects and become a central design authority for new products.
• Provide technical input to test cases and be involved in driving projects to successful completion/implementation.
• Provides guidance and inputs during the product testing phase.
• Perform necessary dimensioning of the end to end solution as per individual domain areas involved in the design.
• Interface and interact with system owners, vendors, and partners to obtain an end to end technical impact and design.
• Guide business on possible products technical feasibilities during the concept phase.
• To help execute the Enterprise strategy for the South African market.
• To manage the technical assessment of the Enterprise pipeline in Vodacom.
• To be the technical expert for Enterprise solutions for EBU markets professionally present Vodafone/Vodacom Enterprise. solutions, negotiate with Vodacom solution partners regarding the viable way to provide a holistic Enterprise product solution that fulfills business needs.
• Interact with the internal Vodacom technical domains or departments to define for Enterprise solutions including technical assessments, design, and support of Enterprise solution.

The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have

• Matric - Essential
• 3 year National Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related.
• 5-8 years’ experience in a telecommunications environment (Fixed Line and Mobile services preferable)
• At least 5 years’ experience in a Solution Engineer, Solution Design, or architecture role.
• 4-5years Project management experience.
• At least 5 years’ experience across the SDLC (essential) and Agile practices.
