    Senior Trader, FX Options

    • To optimise the funding and execution of the short- term and long-term FX Options trading book objectives. To analyse market trends including technological disruptors, initiate and optimise trading solutions and ways of working to trade Foreign Exchange products to achieve the trading book Profit and Loss (P&L) while ensuring compliance to defined risk levels, codes of conduct and statutory regulations.  

    Key Outputs:

    Sales Enablement

    • Provide fit for purpose (trading and product) market commentary and insights to Sales teams, to inform the client experience across the FX value chain so that the clients’ needs are met and SBG is positioned as a valued partner. Respond to client needs either via sales or direct channel.

    Market Knowledge & Analytics

    • Monitor, collect and analyse historic, current and expected market developments, trends, and performance to identify new market opportunities and proactively translate these into appropriate trading positions trade strategies and ideas and price making activity.

    Product Development

    • Provide insights and ideas to optimise the FX trading products and methodologies so that the FX business stays relevant and competitive. This includes learning and testing new ideas.

    Pricing Risk

    • Demonstrate brilliant basics by determining consistent and competitive pricing strategies (both traditional and non-traditional) for a range of financial instruments.

    Trade Execution

    • Initiate trading ideas and strategies, execute transactions / trade the assigned Product(s) and manage the resulting trading risk within agreed trading limits, defined trading protocols and risk levels) to ensure maximum profitability of the assigned trading portfolio(s).

    Stakeholder Relationships

    • Liaise with authorised counterparties, brokers, financial institutions and peers to ensure the agreed processes and functions are performed to allow consistent daily performance.

    Regulatory Compliance

    • Optimise and align all relevant policies and operational controls to ensure that any risks to business or revenue is pro-actively managed. Ensure that standards are relevant and maintained to protect SBG reputation and credibility.

    Trading Enhancement

    • Manage all efforts that contribute to the simplification and modernisation of the current asset class systems landscape with the goal to transition to an optimised client digital engagement.

    Data Insights

    • Work with relevant partners to use analytics and emerging capabilities to create business value and better enable price making / decision making.

    People Management

    • Manage the work of team members to ensure that work outcomes are achieved, Empower and support people and foster a culture that enables courage, confidence and hunger to win.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Qualifications

    • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study

    Experience

    • Seasoned to advanced knowledge and experience price making and trading Foreign Exchange derivative products, preferably within Standard Bank, with a thorough understanding of relevant currencies, trading limits and of economic and market drivers for trading products;
    • Knowledge and application of the relevant Global Market trading systems required;
    • Seasoned understanding and application of appropriate market knowledge, norms and principles in complying to market rules and regulations.
