Service Worker: Gardening General Worker (Post Level 17/18): Facilities Management at University of the Free State

Duties and responsibilities:

​​​​​​Operations

• General maintenance and cleaning of gardens and terrain within working hours.
• Maintain and perform inspections on equipment.
• Abide to daily program/ schedule.
• Follow ad hoc instructions given by line management.
• Follow procedures and protocol.
• Assist with refuse maintenance.

Internal Reporting

• Reporting to line manager – supervisor/driver/team leader.
• Feedback and communication with the line manager.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure all grounds/terrain are maintained within accordance with standard procedures and specifications.
• Ensure cleaning of equipment and workspace.
• Ensure safe working procedure.
• Comply with PPE clothing.
• Comply with health and safety standards.

Inherent Job Requirements:

• Grade 10 on NQF Level 2 (attach proof).
• Experience relating to the duties and responsibilities set out above.

Recommendations:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience relating to the duties and responsibilities set out above.
• Experience in operating gardening equipment and machinery.
• Knowledge of applicable safety procedures.
