Sewer Pump Station Fitter Assistant- Semi Skilled Artisan (12 Months Fixed Term Contract) at Rand Water

Job Advert Summary    
Responsible for the assistance on ad-hoc maintenance, Pump’s installations, remove waste on Pumps & Non returns valves, Inspections and testing of mechanical equipment to meet the specified standards. Reporting problems to the Team leader (Pump Station Supervisor).

Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12 and N3 - N6 Mechanical or Equivalent
• Three years previous Sewer Pump Station experience as a Fitter Assistant will be advantages.
• Knowledge of OSHA and safe working procedures
• Physically and Medically fit.

Primary Duties    

• Signing of the Pump Station Register.
• Inspections on pumps, valves, no returns valve, lifting equipment and Manual screens.
• Remove waste on the pump’s volute and non-return valves.
• Maintenance at various sewer pump stations
• Installing new Mechanical equipment
• Assist on the daily routine screen maintenance.
• Cleaning of the Pump blockages as and when required.
• Record and Report all the fault Equipment
• Monitor the running Pumps.

Knowledge    

• Basic understanding of Sewer Pump Station.
• Basic rigging.
• Basic understanding of valves, pressure and flow principles
• Safety working procedures
