    Site Supervisor

    Job Description

    • A reputable Gas & Oil company is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to manage the removal and replacement of waste heat boiler coils during a refinery shutdown at their Milnerton, Cape Town site.
    • The ideal candidate must have extensive mechanical construction experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple teams and contractors while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule compliance. Attention to detail, decision-making under pressure, and excellent communication skills are essential.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee day-to-day site operations during the shutdown period.
    • Coordinate the removal of existing boiler coils and installation of new coils, including fit-up, welding, NDT, and PWHT activities.
    • Ensure all work is executed in compliance with approved drawings, procedures, codes, and refinery standards.
    • Lead and manage site personnel, subcontractors, and resources to meet shutdown schedules.
    • Enforce SHE compliance, conduct toolbox talks, JHAs, and ensure risk assessments and safe work procedures are implemented.
    • Monitor quality, verify welding procedures and welder qualifications, and manage punch lists and final acceptance.
    • Report progress, productivity, and safety performance to management and client representatives.
    • Liaise with refinery operations, inspectors, and other contractors to resolve issues and maintain project flow.

    Requirements:

    • Trade qualification (Boilermaker / Mechanical) or Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
    • Minimum 6–8 years’ experience in mechanical construction within oil & gas, refinery, or petrochemical environments.
    • Proven experience managing shutdown or turnaround projects.
    • Strong knowledge of welding, NDT, pressure equipment codes, and refinery permit systems.
    • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
    • Safety-driven mindset with the ability to work extended hours during shutdown periods.
