SMPP/Structural Supervisor (Underground)

• This position is based in Mooinooi, North West. The SMPP / Structural Supervisor will oversee all structural, mechanical, platework, and piping activities within an underground mining environment, with particular emphasis on conveyor systems.
• The role is responsible for ensuring work is executed safely, maintaining structural integrity, and delivering efficient installation and maintenance in compliance with all operational and regulatory standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Relevant Trade Test Certificate (Boilermaker / Fitter or related discipline).
• Minimum 10 years’ experience as an Assistant in SMPP / Structural environments.
• Minimum 7–8 years’ experience within the mining industry.
• Proven underground mining experience is essential.
• Extensive conveyor system experience is essential.
• Supervisory or foreman experience will be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of mining safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate SMPP and structural work within underground operations.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of conveyor systems and related infrastructure.
• Ensure structural integrity and compliance with engineering standards.
• Enforce adherence to mine health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Conduct inspections and risk assessments on structures, equipment, and conveyor systems.
• Lead and mentor a team of artisans, boilermakers, fitters, and assistants.
• Identify and resolve mechanical and structural faults to minimize downtime.
• Plan and schedule maintenance activities to ensure continuous operation.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and structural modifications.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet operational targets.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and reporting standards.
