Social Worker: Amari Special School (Welkom) at Free State Department: Education

Requirements:

• The candidate must have: A relevant 4-year degree in social work or equivalent.
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP). 1-year Social Work experience. Valid driver's licence.
• Willingness to work irregular hours and to travel extensively. Added advantage: A qualification in Education and registration with SACE.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge: Experience of multi-disciplinary teams and project management, Proficiency in an official African language relevant to the region, Computer literacy, knowledge of the National Curriculum Statement and White Paper 6,
• Knowledge of policies governing education in general and inclusive education specifically Social work methods and legislation, Ability to identify problems and when to refer. Knowledge of the Batho Pel principles.
• Skills: Good interpersonal and management skills, Counselling, Problem solving, good listening skills, Conflict resolution, Report writing, Professionalism, Honesty and integrity.

Duties:

• The successful candidate will have to interview learners with challenging behaviours and do developmental assessments.
• Design and implement Individual Development Plans. Render Therapeutic Services.
• Parental guidance. Connecting with sources and services in the community. Multi professional teamwork. Writing reports.
• Practice a sound administrative system. Organize social meetings and assist management.
