Software Architect (12-Month Contract) at DeARX Services (Pty) Ltd

• We are seeking an experienced Software Architect to join a leading banking institution in Sandton on a 12-month contract. This role is ideal for a seasoned technical leader who can design scalable, secure, and high-performing enterprise solutions within a complex financial services environment.

Role Overview

• The Software Architect will be responsible for defining and driving the overall technical architecture across multiple systems and platforms. You will work closely with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, developers, and DevOps teams to ensure alignment between business requirements and technology strategy.
• You will play a key role in shaping solution design, ensuring architectural governance, and guiding engineering teams through implementation in a fast-paced, regulated banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain end-to-end solution architecture across enterprise systems
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure technical designs
• Provide architectural guidance across development and integration teams
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and governance frameworks
• Design cloud-ready and microservices-based architectures (where applicable)
• Oversee system integration, APIs, and data flow design
• Conduct architecture reviews and ensure compliance with security and risk standards
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to improve CI/CD and deployment strategies
• Support modernization initiatives and legacy system transformation

Required Experience & Skills

• 8–12+ years in software development and architecture roles
• Proven experience as a Software Architect or Senior Solution Architect
• Strong background in enterprise application design within banking or financial services
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments)
• Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, and integration patterns
• Experience with security architecture in regulated environments
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to balance technical depth with strategic thinking

Advantageous Skills

• Experience with domain-driven design (DDD)
• Exposure to TOGAF or enterprise architecture frameworks
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum / SAFe)
