Software Engineer at Standard Bank Group

JOB PURPOSE

To apply computer science theories, principals to create, refactormoderate to complex programs/scripts, integration softwareservices.To design complex specifications, code, test, debug,enhance programs within the Continuous delivery pipelines andprovide support, maintenance of systems,programmes. To execute software developer responsibilities according to Engineer practice,standards, frameworks, roadmaps and the architects application standards. Participate in reviews of colleagues' work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

• Develop fully functional applications across all platforms that are in line with current technologies and standards and publish them to the relevant platform to enhance the functioning and experience of employees. 
• Develop specifications that support the design, coding, building, assembling, configuring, implementation, testing, data conversion as well as documentation and enhancements for the team and users of solutions. 
• Adopt and adhere to suitable and agreed development methodologies and principles through work outputs and behaviours that enables continuous delivery and development across the production environment as well as ensuring effective collaboration with all colleagues and stakeholders in order to meet required targets and therefore deliver value to the customer. 
• Produce specifications for systems functions, information flows, data loads, implementation strategy, phasing of development, requirements not met and alternatives considered. 
• Construct, interpret and execute moderate to complex end to end system and program tests to verify correct operation of completed systems.
• Contribute to programmes and platforms for the processing, analysis and visual display of data, integrating new and existing data sources and ensuring the validity and reliability of data to support data driven decision making (as required).
• Look actively for opportunities to shorten development timelines, share expert technicalknowledge and skills to improve skills of the team and improve cost efficiency of application development activities.
• Adhere to application lifecycle management accountabilities, architectural platforms andguardrails and ensure that all activity is digitally recorded and tracked to enhance reporting,to support process review and improvement and to maintain an audit ready posture.
• Engage with leads to receive feedback on work completed and communicate any concerns,issues, risks and progress regarding work output to enable a culture of continuousdevelopment and learning and aim to resolve all issues and risks.

QUALIFICATIONS

• First Degree  / Post Graduate Degree in Information Technology
• BSc Comp Science, B.Com Informatics
• Certificate in a programming language or cloud computing
• 5-7 years broad experience in translating business and functionalrequirements intotechnical specificationsand developing theprogramming code to create the solutions.
• 8- 10 years proven experience inmodern engineeringpractices i.e. dev ops,agile etc., Provenexperience acrossmultiple, broad ITEngineeringdisciplines, witdemonstratedspecialisation in atleast one. Experiencewithin the required scope of expertise.
