As a Software Engineering Lead, you will guide and support a diverse team of engineers while collaborating with product, support, and business partners to deliver high‑quality solutions. This role combines hands-on technical work, people leadership, and project delivery.
You will help shape technical direction, mentor team members, and contribute to building an inclusive, psychologically safe, and high‑performing team environment. You will balance leadership responsibilities with direct implementation work, adjusting your focus as business needs evolve.
Responsibilities
Release management inclusive of sign off for a well-formed test plan, rollback plan communication plan and release notes.
Resource management inclusive of administrative duties such as time and attendance, resource planning, performance management, 1 on 1 chats and career development.
Project management duties such as agile ceremonies, backlog refinement and business engagement.
Technical leadership in solution design, technical implementation, output quality and coaching of team members in accordance with software engineering best practices and design patterns.
Owning the team strategy for futureproofing, maintenance and improvement. This consists of the technical, operational and resource level plans.
Support management of queries escalated to the development team
Implementation (writing code, automation tests and devops activities), complex technical specifications and review of new features, enhancements and bug fixes.
All other duties assigned.
Requirements
Experience leading or mentoring software engineers, typically gained through 3+ years in a senior engineering or architectural role and approximately 7+ years in the technology field.
Knowledge of software engineering principles (e.g., SOLID) and modern development best practices.
Proficiency with SQL, data manipulation, .NET, C#, Angular, Git, and Azure Pipelines (or similar tools).
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
Ability to foster teamwork, support inclusive collaboration, and navigate team dynamics effectively.
Strong organizational, planning, and change‑management skills.
