As a Software Engineering Lead, you will manage and guide a diverse team of engineers. Being the primary point of contact for your team, you will work closely with management and other business stakeholders such as the product owner and customer support squad, to ensure the success of your team and its deliverables. This role has direct reports and requires strong technical skills, good communication and great leadership abilities.
The expected effort spread is 30% implementation, 20% project management, and 50% team management and mentorship. This fluctuates based on what is needed at the time as it is the responsibility of the lead to manage priority.
In this role, you will be required to make informed technical and administrative decisions, conduct performance and code reviews, offer ongoing mentorship and drive the strategic direction of the team and its product(s). You would need to be comfortable with delegating tasks and doing hands-on implementation as well.
Responsibilities
Lead release management activities, including review of test plans, rollback plans, communication plans, and release notes.
Manage team capacity, time and attendance processes, performance feedback, and career development.
Facilitate agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, and cross‑team engagement.
Provide technical leadership in solution design, implementation quality, and engineering best practices.
Shape and maintain long‑term strategies for technical health, maintenance, and operational effectiveness.
Support escalated queries directed to the engineering team.
Participate in hands‑on implementation, including coding, automation testing, and DevOps activities.
Review technical specifications, new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
Perform other related duties as needed.
Requirements
7 years + Experience as a senior software engineer or solutions architect, including mentoring others.
Strong understanding of SOLID principles and established engineering best practices.
Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation, .NET and C#, Angular, Git and Azure pipelines
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
High emotional intelligence and the ability to support healthy team dynamics.
Effective organizational, planning, and change‑management skills.
