    Solutions Advisor: Engagement, Learning, and Adapting

    • The Solutions Advisor | Engagement, Learning and Adapting facilitates effective knowledge sharing, learning, and adaptive management processes across TSS projects to support USAID/South Africa as well as USAID regional health offices (including but not limited to RHO, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Mozambique) to meet critical program objectives. S/he will be responsible for various tasks as described below; for these tasks the Solutions Advisor | Engagement, Learning and Adapting will both complete the work as requested and develop the capacity of colleagues, USAID, government or implementing partner counterparts. The Solutions Advisor | Engagement, Learning and Adapting will integrate innovative solutions to all projects, leverage what has worked previously, and adapt approaches to integrate lessons learned and to customize solutions to the unique needs of each Health Office.

    Primary Responsibilities

    The Solutions Advisor | Engagement, Learning and Adapting will support one or more of the following tasks, core activities and deliverables as listed below and as assigned, based on TSS’ work plans. For these activities the consultant may be asked to complete the tasks and/or develop the capacity of colleagues, USAID, government or implementing partner counterparts to complete these tasks.

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs, objectives and desired outcomes for capacity-building initiatives.
    • Liaise with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts in developing training curriculum and facilitation plans
    • Prepare and plan facilitation sessions, including setting clear objectives , designing agendas, and selecting appropriate facilitation techniques
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts in developing training pre and post evaluation tools including knowledge evaluation analysis tools
    • Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and communities of practice to promote cross-functional learning, collaboration, and innovation among staff, partners, and stakeholders.
    • Provide guidance and support to staff, consultants, USAID, government or implementing partner counterparts in implementing newly acquired knowledge and skills into their work practices.
    • Provide guidance and capacity building support to staff, consultants, USAID, government or implementing partner counterparts on knowledge management, learning methodologies, and adaptive management practices.
    • Create clear and concise learning content that aligns with instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and best practices for knowledge transfer.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, trainers, and subject matter experts to review and revise training materials based on feedback, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with learning objectives .
    • Liaise with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop post training participant outcome survey tools, ensuring results from the surveys inform future trainings, technical assistance and coaching for participants
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders for coordinated training support visits and onsite technical assistance and coaching of participants
    • Maintain a centralized repository of training materials including participants post training plans, ensuring version control, organization, and easy accessibility for trainers and learners.
    • Coordinate with project teams to manage the development and delivery of training materials within established timelines and budgetary constraints.
    • Conduct quality assurance checks on training materials to ensure adherence to the latest thinking and knowledge as well as established standards, branding guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of capacity-building interventions through assessments, surveys, and feedback mechanisms, and make recommendations for improvement.
    • Collaborate with relevant staff/teams to identify/develop, strengthen, and maintain effective knowledge management and communications practices, systems, and technology.
    • Contribute to the design, development, and facilitation of effective collaboration opportunities for TSS, USAID, and other key stakeholders.
    • Attend key meetings and utilizing templates, populate meeting minutes, agreed actions and/or deliverables; synthesize complex discussions into salient points, actively listening and capturing key information for decision making.
    • As needed copy-edit key documents from other TSS work areas and teams.
    • Other activities and specific project deliverables as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Master's in public health, management, organizational development, social science, or a related field or relevant experience.
    • 7-10 years of experience in public health programming, preferably within southern Africa and preferably USAID/USG program experience.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
    • Analytical thinking and attention to detail, with demonstrated experience in managing complex projects in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
    • Strong stakeholder relationship and communication skills .
    • Proven capacity to take initiative, strong work ethic, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent verbal and written English language skills, including report writing and presentations in the English language.
    • Proven capacity to take initiative and willingness to learn new skills as needed.
