Specialist Auditor - Civil and Construction Engineering/ Project Management at Rand Water

Job Advert Summary    

Randwater is currently looking for SPECIALIST AUDITOR - Civil and Construction Engineering/ Project Management to enhance control, governance and risk management by conduct ongoing independent reviews of the adequacy and effectiveness of strategic asset management, perform consulting services of civil, construction and projects related processes within Rand Water. To train and develop Senior Internal Auditors and Internal Auditors into assurance experts within the civil, construction and project management field.

Minimum Requirements    

• (Hons)/BEng (Hons) or BTech (Civil Eng.)
• Plus 5 years in water related projects
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng. / Pr. Tech)
• Ability to verify pipeline & pipeline structures designs and make recommendations
• Ability to produce written technical reports.
• Willingness to undergo basic auditing principles training.
• Understanding of Principles of Project Management
• Working knowledge of SAP

Primary Duties    

• Identifying significant civil, construction and project management risks;
• Conducting risk-based civil, construction and project management and risk management reviews;
• Implementation / execution of general audit plan with specific focus on civil, construction and projects management;
• To manage, supervise and execute projects such as compliance, performance and ad-hoc assignments;
• Manage staff, including staff selection, motivation and performance reviews for various projects conducted with a team in a capacity of team leader;
• Review audit projects on planning (audit program) and execution (working papers) and reporting;
• Establishing and maintaining civil, construction and project management audit coverage plans together with the audit manager;
• Presenting reports to senior/executive management;
• Constantly research the latest international standards on civil and construction engineering techniques with the intention of effecting efficiency improvements in the Audit Methodology specifically relating to projects within Strategic Asset Management (SAM).
