Specialist: Commercial Business Analyst at Vodacom

Role purpose

• The main purpose of this role is to support the Retail Operations team with the management of information and analytics thereof required for business case/business model formulation and design including data extracts, and other scheduled and adhoc reporting requirements. This role will ensure that the data extracts and information provided is accurate, complete and in the correct format to enable further analysis, modelling and manipulation.
• Provide business intelligence that allows for commercially beneficial decision making in areas such as channel economics and rationalisation, investment in various technological solutions and digitisation and property rental and recovery models.
• Reviewing the systems in place to optimise the system functionality to ensure accurate commercial reporting.
• In addition, this role will also provide reporting to support the commercial operations of the department in achieving its key strategic goals.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Consolidate and analyse operational and financial data taking into account Retail Operations strategic goals.
• To oversee and control ad-hoc/ special projects to ensure that the objectives of the projects are met and delivery achieved in time.
• Integrate all required data sources across the Retail operations division & other business areas and ensure timely availability of clean, complete and accurate data and delivery of the data in the required format.
• Recommends actions by analysing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
• Increases productivity by developing automated workings/reports for Retail Operations; coordinating information requirements.
• End to end BI & Commercial support.
• Derive and communicate insights from reporting for the various business units within ROPS as and when required.
• Assist in reviewing the performance trends and identify risks and opportunities on an ongoing basis.
• This will include providing assistance in reviewing the systems in place to optimise the systems various functionality to ensure accurate commercial reporting. To collaborate with all relevant groups (internal and 3rd Parties) to develop solutions to meet the business requirements in terms of insights that enables the business units to make key strategic decisions
• Data mining and analysis to support regular and ad hoc reporting requirements for ROPS to assist with decision making.
• Create and manage sound collaborative relationships with multiple touch points i.e. business partners , internal stakeholders as well as strategic parties that impact business operations, e.g. Big data, Data Analytics.

The ideal candidate for this role will have

• Matric/Grade 12 (Essential) and
• 3 year degree essential in BSc in Computer Sciences and Applied Mathematics or related field.
• Honours qualification an advantage.
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) beneficial.
• A minimum of 5 years’ information management and analysis experience is essential with exposure to:
• Design, deliver, maintain and update a fully integrated data base of validated and accurate information.
• Assist analytics team with data analyses and extracts and provide relevant input to business problems.
• Providing business intelligence solutions using MS Stack, SQL, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, Qlik and Power BI highly beneficial.
• Commercial/ BI Support experience highly beneficial.
• Financial modelling experience – beneficial
• Data analytics experience – beneficial
• Telecommunications experience – beneficial
• Commercial & Business Performance Analysis and effective recommendation compilation.
• Broad knowledge of computer and operational systems and controls, advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Powerpivot, Power View, SQL, Python, DATAZEN, C#, C++, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, SharePoint skills beneficial.
• Project management skills.
