    Specialist Direct Tax

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Calculation of the Materials Business Unit monthly and annual income tax liability.
    • Manage the overall compliance with tax legislation including preparation and submission of tax returns.
    • Management of all tax related queries from auditors and tax authorities.
    • Provide strategic leadership in collaboration with the Head Group Tax to taxes by partnering with Materials Business Unit, Financial Manager, relevant Committees, and Government and Regulatory bodies to ensure the South African group companies are driving sustainable, profitable business growth, and tax effectiveness.
    • Manage tax risks in the business and maintain a strong control environment.
    • Keep abreast with changes in tax legislation and ensure that the relevant stakeholders are kept informed about these amendments.

    Minimum Requirements    
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

    • BCom. or similar degree
    • Post graduate tax qualification H Diploma Tax or International Tax

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • At least 3 - 5 years relevant tax experience with emphasis on deferred tax
    • Knowledge of Income Tax legislation relevant to the business
    • Knowledge of VAT Act and Mineral Royalties Act
    • Able to communicate and persuade at all levels
    • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Experience working with compliance-related issues

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    KEY OUTPUTS

    • Tax calculations for monthly management accounts, interim and annual financial statements.
    • Preparation and submission of interim and year-end tax packs for external audit, and attend to queries raised by auditors.
    • Submission of tax returns, including income tax, mineral royalties and dividend tax returns of Materials Business Unit.
    • Preparation and submission of all income tax related disputes with tax authorities.
    • Providing guidance on income tax implications for business restructuring activities, and tax technical matters.
    • Conduct ad-hoc tax health checks within the business to identify tax risks and opportunities.
    • Optimised tax planning and saving provisions, and implementation thereof.
    • Adherence to corporate governance, legal compliance and compliance with PPC policies and tax frameworks.
    • Assess the impact of the tax amendments to the business and ensure that the relevant stakeholders are kept informed about those amendments.
    • Participate actively in Taxation Forums and knowledge sharing forums.
