5 years in managing and curating genomics information.
5 years in data analysis and interpretation for population genomics in forest trees (desirable).
Proven track record in science communication (publication and presentation).
Proven data management and programming experience.
Ability to communicate and present effectively at all levels (technical and scientific reports).
High-level proficiency in analysis software for molecular marker, genetic and environmental association analyses (including R, Python and/or other genomics software).
Be able to work without direct supervision in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
Generate and continuously improve genomics-informed models for genetic improvement and commercial deployment in collaboration with tree breeders.
Develop and continuously increase understanding of the genetic variation underlying important traits such as growth, form, wood quality, stress tolerance, site adaptability, and resilience.
Translation of externally generated knowledge for effective benchmarking and the rapid adoption and assimilation of genomics and phenomics technologies..
Key Performance Areas:
Manage and provide technical direction in all marker-assisted and genomic selection breeding activities (including tree breeding and genetic diversity conservation efforts).
Coordinate the data generation and data management of genomics resources for pure species and hybrids.
Perform data analysis and interpretation towards the development of a marker-assisted hybrid breeding strategy in collaboration with tree breeders.
Develop in-house capacity to curate genomic, phenotypic and environmental data sets towards data-driven decision-making to maximise genetic gains per unit time and cost.
Develop predictive models for genotype-by-site compatibility.
Knowledge capture and sharing of the latest developments in population genomics, molecular breeding strategies and applications, landscape genomics, genotyping technologies, phenomics, and related modelling techniques via science literature, seminars, conferences, etc.
Perform strategic and technical collaboration with external research partners such as TPCP/FABI (pest and diseases), CAMCORE/ICFR (breeding and enabling technologies), FMG/EPPI (molecular breeding and enabling technologies) and CREATION BREEDING (tree breeding database).
Plan and review the annual budget and Capex requirements.
Ensure project management, planning and execution within allocated resources.
Ensure strict adherence to company SHEQ, governance and compliance guidelines in the breeding operations.
