Purpose of the position:

• Formulate and implement land management strategies, policies, and procedures within Mondi, as well as ensuring a process of continuous improvement across the discipline. 

EDUCATION

MIN EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• Senior Certificate 

TERTIARY: ESSENTIAL

•   BSc Honours Degree in Soil Science or Forestry.
•   Preference will be given to incumbents holding an MSc Degree in Soil Science, Forestry or equivalent qualification.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE

•   Minimum 3 years relevant experience coupled with a BSc Honours degree or equivalent qualification in Soil Science or Forestry.
• Limited experience will be considered if coupled with a relevant MSc or equivalent qualification.

LICENCES/MANDATORY TRAINING

• GIS and statistical package competencies.
• Code B Driver’s license.

   
RESPONSIBILITIES / KPAS:

•  Formulates land management strategies, policies, procedures, and work instructions.
•  Technology transfer in conjunction with R&D staff, Technical staff, academic partners, and relevant consultants. 
•  Coordinates and interacts with academic partners, ICFR and FABI, on a range of specialist projects.
•  Carry out audits and assessments as requested.
•  Develops the appropriate and applicable systems required for FSC and ISO certification.
•  Compiles and manages PDR documents for direct reports.
•  Compiles annual opex and capex budgets. 

JOB COMPETENCIES / ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS – ESSENTIAL

•  High level of Computer literacy – MS Office
•  Exposure to forestry field research programmes. 
• GIS programming skills. 
• Statistical software management skills
• Experience in a Technical role.
