Sport Science Teacher Grade 8 -12 at Reddam House Helderfontein

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective Grade 8–12 Sport Science lessons
• Teach Sport Science in accordance with IEB curriculum requirements and assessment standards.
• Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that supports active learning and student success.
• Monitor, assess, record, and report on student progress regularly and accurately.
• Set, mark, and moderate assessments, examinations, projects, and practical investigations.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Foster student curiosity and an appreciation for the scientific principles underpinning sport, exercise, and human performance.
• Integrate appropriate technologies and innovative teaching methodologies into classroom practice.
• Contribute to the broader life of the school through participation in academic, sporting, cultural, and co-curricular activities.
• Attend departmental meetings, staff meetings, parent meetings, and school events as required.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Respond to parent communications within 24 hours where possible.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to departmental growth.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Executive Head or line manager.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Skills and Experience

• A minimum of 2 years' teaching experience in a secondary school environment.
• Experience teaching Sport Science at Grades 10–12 level.
• A sound understanding of the IEB curriculum and assessment requirements.
• Strong subject knowledge in Sport Science, Human Movement Science, Exercise Physiology, Anatomy, or related disciplines.
• Previous experience in an independent or high-performing school environment will be advantageous.

Qualifications and Accreditations

• Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Sport Science, Human Movement Science, Biokinetics, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
• Professional teaching qualification (PGCE, BEd, or equivalent).
• SACE registration.
• Appropriate right to work in South Africa.
