Sr. Spclst, Business/Tech. Analysis at MSD

The Senior Specialist – Business/Tech. Analyst position will be responsible for supporting the South Africa Animal Health commercial operations and R&D organizations with their needs in digital marketing, application development & support, sales tool implementation and use of associated technology. The successful candidate must have excellent verbal and communications skills as well as the ability to create and maintain strong, trusted relationships across functional areas. The role requires understanding the needs of the business and effectively engages the proper IT resources to a successful solution. Additionally, the successful candidate possesses the technical ability to manage direct requests from the marketing team to return a finished product as well as to monitor campaign success.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships and earn the trust of business partners and country team members as the person who can help them utilize the right technology to achieve the desired goal
• Actively support the implementation and adoption of sales tools (eg. CRM) to help drive sales force effectiveness in each of the markets
• Provide project management oversight and work across organizational boundaries to ensure success of multiple projects and initiatives
• Help drive digital transformation by assisting marketing teams with digital marketing initiatives and providing guidance on available solutions as well as the best use of solutions
• Research and present the South Africa Commercial Operations teams with new tools and/or better ways to use existing technology to solve business issues
• Work with marketing agencies to develop and deploy websites and mobile applications using Merck standards
• Work with Finance teams to help drive efficiency in back office processes and good financial management
• Work with stakeholders to maximize the value of applications to the business through training, enhancements & best practice sharing

Skills/Experience

• 3-5 years relative experience in a client facing IT support role in a multinational company
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in an IT account management or business analysis function
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in working and collaborating across multiple countries is a plus
• Proficiency in English is critical
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Pharmaceutical or FMCG experience preferred
• Web or mobile application development background as a developer, project manager or account manager function
• Experience with web-based analytics from implementation in websites to understanding results and providing ongoing support to marketing teams for current and future initiatives
• Extensive experience in driving Sales Force Effectiveness through CRM (and in particular Veeva/salesforce.com) and other sales tools (eg. e-detailing) is a plus
• Experience with ERP application support (preferably SAP)
• Proven experience of building relationships, communicating and collaborating across organizations and levels
• Experience in Animal Health or Pharmaceuticals is a plus
• Experience in a consulting firm or agency is also a plus
