Station Commander: Operations at Drakenstein Municipality

JOB PURPOSE:

• To perform various managerial, administrative and technical tasks associated with emergency service delivery, fire safety, training and fire station maintenance of 3 shifts to ensure the delivery of effective emergency services to save lives and property of the community as far as possible.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST:

• Grade 12
• A National Diploma in Fire Technology or equivalent qualification (NQF level 6)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

• Level 3 first aid/BAA
• Hazmat operations
• Knowledge of the Building Regulations Act
• Knowledge in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Knowledge of the relevant SANS codes
• Knowledge of the Events Management Regulations Act
• Knowledge of all Public Safety Regulations
• Training and presentation skills
• Management and supervision skills
• Code C driver’s license
• Good human relations, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to give attention to detail
• Fluent in at least 2 of the official languages of the Western Cape

EXPERIENCE:

• 7 years relevant experience whereby 3 must be on a supervisory level
