Strata Control Officer at Barberton Mines

Description

• Providing meaningful input during planning and risk assessments
• Investigating underground instability issues and rock related incidents
• Recommending on the safety and productivity of the mining environment
• Adherence to strata control practices and principles
• Adherence to standardisation requirements, policies, procedures and operating standards related to strata control services and support
• Resolving or escalating operational strata control related queries or breakdowns declared
• Reviewing and analysing effectiveness of operational strata control processes
• Reviewing strata control data and information
• Participating in the identification of defects and improvement opportunities
• Successful teamwork and collaboration with stakeholders
• Adherence to organisational and legislative safety requirements

Requirements

• Grade 12 Certificate with mathematics and science
• Chamber of Mines Strata Control Certificate a critical requirement
• A Blasting certificate and mining experience would be beneficial
• Mining relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. B-Tech or BSc) would be an advantage
• Minimum 5 years Rock Engineering experience within a metalliferous / massive mining environment.
• Studies towards Certificate in Rock Mechanics will be advantageous
• Numerical Modelling proficiency
• Ability to communicate with people on different levels
• Excellent report writing ability
• Proficient in Microsoft office package
• Valid Certificate of physical fitness
• Drivers license with own transport would be a benefit
