Superintendent Mine Planning - Hotazel at South32

POSITION SYNOPSIS:

The purpose of the role is to lead a multi-discipline team of Mine Planning, Mine Scheduling and drill and Blast Designs to maximize ore extraction and meet customer requirements.   

REQUIREMENTS:

• Serious contenders will have a Degree / National Diploma in Mining Engineering and a minimum of 5 years’ Mine Planning experience in surface mines of which 2 years at least in a supervisory position;
• Mine Manager Certificate of Competence is an added advantage;
• ECSA registration as professional engineer is an added advantage;
• Knowledge in Deswik CAD, IS and LHS software, or other opencast planning software experience, is essential;
• Knowledge of 1SAP is essential;
• Valid Code 08/EB driver’s license is essential.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Develop & implement strategy and action plans for the department;
• Ensure the creation and implementation of a business plan (2YR schedules) and forecasts to meet strategic targets;
• Identify, develop and implement improvement strategies;
• Provide strategic/ professional direction regarding Mine Capability Planning;
• Sign off, implement and revise mine design parameters;
• Assist in identifying of field projects;
• Approve production targets, drill and blast plans and monthly production forecast;
• Annual, monthly, weekly and daily production plans and monitor and control actual cost against budget;
• Participate in the estimation and preparation of cost budget;
• Reconciliation of production volumes on a weekly, monthly and quarterly frequency and uploads into 1SAP.
