The role:

• The role is responsible for the control and management of the production process to ensure that production targets and qualities are achieved. Ensure that department complies to all relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Management of production on the coal floor ensuring supervising of production personnel and overseeing those jobs are done properly as well as control and coordination of all process contractors onsite
• Coordinate maintenance of plant machinery in support of production targets through the development of plant maintenance plans with the plant manager and section engineer as well as ensure that all process mobile machinery is maintained as per schedule
• Ensure that legal requirements, codes of practices, group standards, procedures and policies are updated, implemented, adhered to and that changes to legal requirements are communicated
• Effective People management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
• Liaison with Engineering department for maintenance
• Liaison with plant manager for quality control requirements
• Liaison with Eskom
• Contractor management
• Stockyard coal movement
• Coal accounting
• Draw up and manage stockyard operations budget.

You will need:

• Grade 12 / N3 with Math (Not Literacy) and Science with an Advanced Coal Preparation certificate OR
• BSc / Honours / B Tech / BTech Honours in Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering / Mineral Processing
• 5 year’s experience in plant processing with a minimum of 3 years as a Metallurgy Engineer or Plant Supervisor
• A good knowledge of legislation relating to the mining industry e.g. Mine Health and Safety Act
• In depth knowledge of coal processing methodologies
• Knowledge of the risk assessment process and practices
• Aware of best practices and new technologies
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Valid driver’s license
• In possession or able to obtain of a valid Certificate of Fitness

Advantageous:

• Safety Course: S3
• Sound knowledge of Seriti’s Processing Codes of Practices, policies and procedures
• Good knowledge of Seriti’s Safety and Sustainable development policies, procedures and standards
• An understanding of the coal production process and stockpile management
