Define and contribute to projects/maintenance scope, costs and benefits, schedule, and implementation strategy and technically manage project execution teams consisting of a mix of internal resources, consultants, and contractors.
Review and approve drawings; oversee others responsible for update and creation of the drawings as well as conduct refractory supplier pre-qualification and manage refractory supplier relationships.
Conduct QA/QC inspections at suppliers’ facilities prior to products being supplied to site and provide on-site supervision during construction and refractory installation phases and maintenance.
Develop plans for operational support of refractory lined assets, including planning and execution of fitness for service inspections, dimensional surveys, data analysis, condition assessment, preventive maintenance, and re-lining activities as well as develop and conduct a training program to upgrade skills of execution team members as needed to support the growth of the refractory practice.
Identify and manage technology improvement projects, including approved R&D projects and assist with marketing of technology, including writing technical papers and participation in relevant industry meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Utilize in-depth knowledge of refractory materials, its uses, and various installation methods and prepare drawings for refractory systems according to requirements, standards, and regulations.
Working closely with the project engineering team and project management team during the re-builds and support in technical meetings during projects, and production/operational discussions
Have a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, listen to Plant needs, and have systematic plans for task execution.
What you’ll bring
Degree in engineering with a major in material science or ceramics.
Proven experience in the areas of refractory technology, combustion engineering and materials science.
Experience in refractory manufacturing, particularly involving the production, quality control, and installation of refractory brick and tile products, mortars, and lining systems.
5 years heavy industry experience
Good working knowledge of the technical aspects of refractory design in closely related areas, i.e., an understanding of the impacts of refractory linings on vessel deflection and structural containment.
Good working knowledge of relevant design practices, codes, and standards.
