    Supervisor Engineering Technician UG

    Job Purpose:

    • This position will provide support to the production and engineering team by ensuring the safe and effective functioning of all instrumentation, plant integrity, availability and automated processes.

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • N4 certificate.
    • Electrical trade certificate.
    • Hold a trade certificate for at least 5 years.
    • Winder experience for a minimum of 2 years.

    The Appointee should:

    • Be declared medically fit to work in the specific business area.
    • Have a clear security screening record.

    Advantageous Qualifications:

    • Engineering Supervisor Certificate.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Focus on safe production, Operational & Work Process functionality Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence Plan daily, weekly and monthly work requirement and priorities with operational team Allocate labour resources and equipment to scheduled and priority activities so as to maintain and ensure high levels of labour, equipment and operational performance standards Ensure availability for afterhours standby duties. Review operational plans and re-assign targets and objectives to subordinates Page 2 of 8 Shutting down the section if necessary for maintenance or unsafe working conditions Oversee and motivates for the continued upgrade improvements of C&I systems infrastructure.     • Maintenance, Construction & Equipment Availability Find the cause of breakdowns and correct Manage and oversee critical spares stock levels is maintained. Manage spares requirements according to the planned maintenance schedule and ensure their availability Oversee that the required material, equipment, spares and staff are available to achieve the output. Assist the team members with technical expertise when challenged with technical problems on PLC programming, HMI and Network systems. Oversee the Continues upkeep of relevant C&I documentation (Loop drawings, IO schedules, etc.) Manage PM compliance and prioritize maintenance of equipment and services. Coordinate projects and shutdowns activities.
    • Workmanship and Quality Conduct regular inspections on all works to ensure safety and maintenance of technical standards Oversee that all work practices are executed in compliance with legal requirements and up to standard. Stop and repair area/plant as soon as possible after problem identification Ensure design, engineering and installation is up to standards during design and construction phases of project related work
    • Administration & Reporting Setting daily, weekly and monthly technical targets Interpretations of the legal and technical standards Oversee the upkeep of relevant C&I documentation Ensure that accurate labour records including overtime worked are maintained and updated on electronic systems. Ensure that required job instructions are available to employees Conduct & Attend required meetings (Planning, Project & Team) Completion of audit administration Adhere to document control standards and procedures. Safekeeping of documentation. Liaise with the OPERATION management team regarding daily, weekly and monthly progress to plan, budget and employee resources. Prepare ad-hoc reports for relevant stakeholders when required. Review quality of subordinate maintenance documentation Ensure that any operational problem that encountered is reported even if outside immediate area of responsibility
    • Continuous Improvement & operational excellence Identify opportunities and oversee the implementation to improve instrumentation operations and systems. Participation in improvement projects. Identify risks and threats to the process proactively. Oversee the upgrade and improvements of C&I systems infrastructure and software (PLC hardware, IO Modules, control programmed.)
    • Stakeholder Relations Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the operational unit. Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant unit management and operational teams. Develop a strong sense of co-operation and teamwork amongst the section employees Encourage a sense of pride amongst the section employees regarding their workmanship Ensure the section supports each other in the accomplishment of their targets.
    • Financial Management Working Cost Budgets: Manage and Control departmental budget Review budget expenses and control commitments Cost Savings: Identify. implement and participate in cost saving and cash conservation initiatives.
    • Building a values-based organisational culture Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan.
    • ESG Compliance Align to international responsible mining principles. SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs). SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative. Ensure accuracy of all metal accounting and environmental instrumentation and measurement systems. Ensure accuracy of accounting measurement system reports and certifications. Ensure on time implementation of C & I related energy saving projects
    • SHEQ Compliance & Management Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. Ensure that operating standards and procedures are adhered to, kept up to date and understood by the team Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department. Ensure that operating standards and procedures are adhered to, kept up to date and understood by the team. Ensuring that all employees are competent and trained to do work safely Page 4 of 8 Coordinate and conduct regular SHE meetings Lead/Oversee risk assessments completed and the implementation of necessary recommendations Conduct & reporting all incidents and or near incidents. Participation on SHEC related campaigns and initiatives. Ensure all hazardous instrumentation devices are maintained and stored properly (e.g.; radioactive equipment). Conduct incidents and accidents investigations Conduct Planned task observation to ensure procedural compliance and identify development areas. Ensure elimination of all safety hazards related to C & I Ensure the Implementation of Safety Actions Quality Management System (QMS): Approve department’s documents. Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System.
    • People Management Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff. Manage performance and development of reporting staff. Ensure fair work allocation for team members. Inspire team members towards high performance. Determining work priorities Calling out specialist expertise when problems occur Changing plans and schedules on the shift to minimize the effect of unexpected problems Manage and agreeing on subordinates leave, overtime and standby planning Identifying employees suitable for further training working conditions Allocate Standby duties Oversee the quality of workmanship and conduct regular inspections and planned task observations. Disciplining of employees to agreed parameters and procedures Assist the team members with technical expertise when challenged on control and monitoring systems Support and participate in the training and development requirements of employees Develop a strong sense of co-operation and team work amongst the section employees Assist with the succession planning process of the section Identify potential conflict situations and minimize the implications Identify ideas to increase motivation Ensure that employees have clear work expectations and plans Communicate effectively with manager Support the induction of new employees Fairly manage cultural diversity
