Job Advert Summary    

• Bidvest Tank Terminals has an opportunity for a Sustainability Officer. This opportunity exists within the Legal and Sustainability department, based in Head Office, reporting to the Legal & Sustainability Executive. The candidate must meet the following minimum criteria.

Minimum Requirements    

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Certification or post graduate diploma in ESG or any related field.
• 2 to 4 years’ experience in working in an ESG role in a corporate environment.
• Firm understanding of ESG reporting.
• Knowledge of legislation governing the chemical storage industry (advantageous).

Duties and Responsibilities    
Main purpose of the job:

• The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and implementing BTT’s policies and practices related to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate governance (ESG) within BTT. The incumbent’s duties will include monitoring and reporting on BTT’s performance in ESG related matters, both to internal and external BTT stakeholders. The incumbent will also assist in the innovation process within BTT operations.

 The successful candidate will engage in the following activities:

• Prepare and consolidate sustainability reporting.
• Write articles or memos for internal circulation.
• Provide progress reports against performance targets and priority projects.
• Monitor and interpret evolving ESG disclosure requirements from regulators and standard setters.
• Promote awareness on ESG related matters within the business.
• Keep track of new trends, technologies, and rules in the ESG world.
• Look for new business chances, partnerships, and investments that focus on ESG.
• Ensure the organization is audit-ready for ESG disclosures and liaise with internal and external auditors as needed.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance ESG data management frameworks and reporting tools.
• Oversee the collection, validation, and reconciliation of ESG metrics.
• Analyse ESG performance data.
• Spearhead and drive innovation in the business to promote new growth and cultivating innovation capabilities within the organization.
• Submit monthly reports as per business requirements.

 Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

• Must have,or be willing to obtain a contract drafting and review certification.
• Good research and drafting skills.
• Superior attention to detail in order to identify and correct risky practices.
• Possess a collaborative personality and be open to suggestions from team members.
• Ability to accurately interpret complex documents and policies.
• Strong time management and organizational skills and able to meet deadlines.
• Strong computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office).
