    Operator Level 4

    Job Advert Summary    

    • BTT is currently recruiting for an Operator level 4 to join the Durban Operations Team, to ensure safe and efficient bulk storage operations on a shift basis and effective operations. The candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent with proficiency in English (Maths and Science preferred)
    • Completed all Operator Level 4 Competency modules as required by the training centre
    • One-year experience in chemical plant operations
    • Code 08 Drivers licence preferred

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Always Work safely, and adhere to PPE requirements
    • Perform all Operational and SHEQ activities in accordance with the BTT policies and work instructions
    • Ensure compliance to OHS Act, SHEQ Systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001) and other industry appliable legislation
    • Conform to the operational procedures for the loading and discharge of products
    • Assist with the receipt and despatch of ships, road tankers, rail tankers and drums as directed
    • Assist with the stripping of tanks, preparation of lines and/or equipment for operations, as directed
    • Carry and connect hoses as directed
    • Insert and remove pigs as directed
    • Assist with the filling, stencilling, preparation and cleaning of drums
    • Connect road, rail, shipping and/or drumming hoses for loading and offloading as directed and supervised by a Level 2 Operator or above
    • Assist with the daily dips as supervised by an Operator Level 2
    • Load and decant vehicles unsupervised once a connection is performed or line-up checked by an Operator level 2 or above
    • Assist with the cleaning of separators, bund floors, tanks, berth lines, roads, vehicles and lines as directed in preparation for product transfer
    • Move between sites as required by the Team Leader/Supervisor due to operational requirements
    • General housekeeping: painting, sweeping, cleaning, cutting grass, washing floors and the cleaning of work areas as directed
    • Operate the Forklift to stack and store product (if licensed Forklift operator only)
    • Any other duty that is in the interest of the Company that is legal and lawful

    Operator Level 2

    Job Advert Summary    

    • BTT is currently recruiting for an Operator level 2 to join the Durban Operations Team reporting to the Team Leader, to ensure safe and efficient bulk storage operations on a shift basis and effective operations.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 with Maths, Science & proficiency in English
    • Completed all Operator Level 2 competency modules
    • Minimum of 2 years’ BTT Operations experience

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Adhere to BTT policies and procedures in all aspects of operations & SHEQ
    • Report unsafe acts and conditions to the Team Leader on shift
    • Responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out safely and that employees adhere to PPE requirements
    • Ensure that all accidents/Incidents/CAR’s are reported
    • Co-ordinate and execute site and shipping activities in accordance with BTT procedures, work instructions and Logistics and planning schedule
    • Perform Vessel Entry inspection and confirmation of tank cleanliness before surveyor is in attendance
    • Perform and calculate stop dips and pumping rates accurately
    • Assess work areas and prepare permit to work
    • Activate heat systems, chillers and compressors in accordance with planned site activities
    • Prepare tanks, lines and equipment for operations as directed
    • Load and unload drums onto flat racks and containers as per drumming procedure
    • Responsible for the signing in and out of keys in accordance with the tank key control procedure
    • Manage the effluent and separator operations to ensure no environmental damage
    • Report losses and gains to the Team Leader on shift
    • Ensure that there is an effective handover between shifts to ensure operational continuity
    • Operate the weighbridges on site, by weighing all vehicles in / out of BTT
    • Complete the necessary check sheets ie) RTA
    • Document all stock movements in and out of the site (including drum loads)
    • Capture all drum and vehicle details onto SAP
    • Check the loading/ decanting instructions with the internal order
    • Capture tank heating, chilling and nitrogen data
    • Capture daily/weekly/monthly dips

    Process Safety Engineer

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Process Safety Engineer position is currently vacant within the Process Department of BTT Richards Bay and Isando.
    • The main purpose of the job is to provide critical support in the management of incident investigations within the Richards Bay and Isando region. This includes, but not limited to, ensuring incident investigations are closed out correctly and within the specified time frames. To provide technical leadership and support to identify hazards, assess risks and provide business solutions by driving and enforcing process safety in the RBI region.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

    • Excellent understanding of relevant API/SANS/ASME/NFPA and other statutory/best practices
    • Strong knowledge of technical support, troubleshooting and process safety features of refinery or storage tank facility equipment
    • Trained in HAZOP and RCA facilitation.
    • Strong technical writing (engineering reports)
    • Engineering analysis and understanding engineering first principles
    • Excellent project and time management skill, including ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines.
    • Ability and willingness to travel.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • BSc /Btech Chemical Engineering.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Process/Process Safety Engineer in Petrochemical Industry.
    • Incident Investigation experience essential.
    • ECSA Pr. Eng registration (or equivalent) would be advantageous.
    • Risk Management experience would be advantageous.

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Proactive management of all Incident investigations on site.
    • Lead all Incident investigations.
    • Accountable for close out of Incident reports within 14 days
    • Apply root cause analysis techniques (RCAT, 5 whys etc.)
    • Provide monthly trending analysis on all Incidents.
    • Provide support in the implementation and continuation of the BTT Process Safety Strategy
    • Lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary workshops with respect to implementation of Process Safety Elements
    • Ensure BTT compliance with the MHI regulations.
    • Create and monitor Process Safety Lead & Lagging Indicators
    • Conduct PSSRs (Pre-Startup Safety Reviews) for medium to large projects
    • Complete the 5-year HAZOP plan for the RBI region.
    • Audit the various BTT Departments to ensure compliance with the Process Safety Strategy
    • Follow up on all outstanding findings to ensure gaps closure.
    • Report on all audits and highlight major findings as well as recommendations.
    • Participate and occasionally lead Management of Change Safety assessments.
    • Ensure site Risk assessments (RA) are updated.

    • Bidvest Tank Terminals has an opportunity for a Sustainability Officer. This opportunity exists within the Legal and Sustainability department, based in Head Office, reporting to the Legal & Sustainability Executive. The candidate must meet the following minimum criteria.

    Minimum Requirements

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Main purpose of the job:

The incumbent’s duties will include monitoring and reporting on BTT’s performance in ESG related matters, both to internal and external BTT stakeholders.
