    System / Business Analysts

    About the role:

    The PwC Advisory Line of Service has an opportunity for 3 experienced Systems / Business Analysts available for a minimum of a nine month contract, who will be required to supplement additional requirements for several projects as part of an application development and maintenance project focusing mostly on custom developed applications. The project includes all aspects of the software development lifecycle, i.e. analysis, design, build, test and implementation.

    The project will cover the following:

    • Review current system’s technical and functional design with a view incorporating new functionality and technical improvements based on the benefits of the new platform;

    • Compiling technical design documents and database design documents in accordance with required functionality reflected in the design documents;

    • Developing of new functionality as reflected in the design documents; Development is required to be carried out in accordance with the coding standards that will be shared with developers at the start of the project;

    • Modify existing functionality to ensure that it supports the required business processes;

    • Develop and/or modify system reports as per requirements; and

    • Conduct component, module and system testing to ensure that the developed functionality is in line with the requirements in the detailed design.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Take responsibility for a set of applications that support business processes of specific line functions;

    • Continuously assess the relevance and value-add of the respective system(s) and recommend new solutions where necessary;

    • Provide user support and respond to user calls or issues logged with the Helpdesk;

    • Investigate, fix, test and migrate system bugs’ fixes through the different environments;

    • Manage the migration of the system enhancements through the different environments that are used as part of the test plan; and

    • Liaising extensively with clients (external or internal);

    • Analysing existing systems and business models;

    • Mapping and documenting interfaces between legacy and new systems;

    • Understanding software development lifecycle;

    • Translating client requirements into highly specified project briefs;

    • Identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability;

    • Conducting requirements analysis and preparing specific proposals for modified or replacement systems;

    • Developing solutions and related products;

    • Producing project feasibility and costing reports;

    • Presenting proposals to clients;

    • Working closely with colleagues, developers, testers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction;

    • Ensuring that budgets are adhered to and deadlines are met;

    • Drawing up, supervising and documenting testing schedules for complete systems;

    • Overseeing implementation of a new system including data migration;

    • Planning and working flexibly to deadlines;

    • Supporting users on change control and system updates;

    • Providing training and user manuals to users of a new system;

    • Keeping up to date with technical and industry developments.

    Minimum Requirements to be met:

    • Ability to conduct user requirements gathering sessions with different line function managers and translate the requirements into functional specifications;

    • Have familiarity with functional design documents and how they translate to system functionality;

    • Have qualification and experience in application development frameworks and methodologies

    • Have good documentation skills and ability to complete the following documentation: functional design, detailed design, database design, technical architecture design, test scripts and testing procedures and user training manuals;

    • Have experience in drawing business processes using tools such as Microsoft Visio;

    • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in Microsoft technologies used for application development

    • Have a high level of proficiency in writing Microsoft SQL queries, including sub queries and cursors;

    • Demonstrate experience and familiarity with configuration management tools, design tools, debugging tools, and any other environment specific tools necessary to create, test, and implement an application;

    • Be able to engage in formal and informal knowledge transfer;

    • Be able to lead a team and manage project delivery;

    • Have application development/programming experience on a Microsoft platform and using same tools as indicated below.

    • Have ability to communicate clearly – verbally and in written form;

    • Have ability and show willingness to engage in formal and informal knowledge transfer;

    • Have ability to work effectively as part of a team in support of the team’s goals;

    • Demonstrate experience in troubleshooting and problem solving technical issues; and

    • Have deep skills and experience in designing and implementing IT solutions.

    Technical requirements to be met:

    • Minimum 5 years working experience in system analysis, design and development

    • Formal Business Analysis qualification

    • Minimum 5 years working experience in system development methodologies

    • Minimum 3 years working experience in VB.NET

    • Minimum 5 years working experience in ASP.NET

    • Minimum 5 years working experience in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 or above

    • Minimum 5 years working experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or above

    • Minimum 5 years working experience in Stored Procedures

    • Minimum 1 year working experience in Microsoft Team Foundation Server

    • Minimum 1 year working experience in Reporting Services 2008 or above

    • Minimum 3 years working experience in .NET Framework 3 or above

    • Minimum 2 years working experience in Web Development
