    Systems Engineer

    Job Summary:

    The ICT Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing computing infrastructure and software application support to the Enel Green Power (EGP) Offices in Southern Africa countries, and EGP Plant related computing infrastructure for EGP Southern Africa. This role will participate in and contribute toother areas within the ICT department as required. They will also implement processes for all platforms and ensure compliance with computing and software requirements, company policies and ICT policies.

    Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Computing infrastructure design, upgrades and deployment.
    • Maintenance and upgrading of currently existing virtualised environment, and design for future requirements.
    • Provide expert support to the EGP ICT Computing Infrastructure.
    •  Engineer Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions/applications in
    • support of the overall objectives of EGP.
    • Provide technical leadership, governance and oversight for the design and implementation of ICT systems, projects and upgrades within the EGP environment, with a core focus on end-user system functionality and industrial control systems to ensure reliability, accessibility and compliance.
    • Work with business unit executives and service providers to introduce required system functionalities onto the ICT environment.
    • Installation and management of physical and virtual computing infrastructure.
    • Ensure the efficient monitoring and maintenance of Servers and other Computing Infrastructure.
    • Manage and collect ICT equipment security logs.
    • Data storage administration and management.
    • Manage the IP Addressing Plan for his/her area of responsibility.
    • Produce and keep up-to-date the documentation regarding design rules, topologies, and infrastructure configuration used in offices, plants and control rooms.
    • Apply software and firmware updates on computing equipment.
    • Ensure that the proper process for managing changes in computing architecture at EGP offices, plants, and control rooms is followed.
    • Create and manage centrally located user accounts and related access profiles for network access and process equipment access.
    • Participate in the periodic ICT budget definition process.
    • Managing CAPEX, OPEX and Purchase requirements on the SAP system.

    Knowledge Needed: 

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Active Directory and networking architectures, both from server and client perspectives.
    • In-depth knowledge of Server Virtualization using different platforms (e.g. Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare etc.).
    • Good knowledge of ISO/OSI layered model.
    • In-depth knowledge of System Architecture & Design which includes the creation of highly detailed functional requirements which describe deep functional logic of a computing system.
    • In-depth knowledge of database administration, Microsoft, Unix/Linux OS systems administration, and Hardware and Storage administration
    • Good knowledge of ICT security risks and vulnerabilities in a networking environment.
    • Knowledge of ISO 27002 standards will be considered as an advantage.
    • Familiarity with high availability, business impact analysis and business continuity concepts.
    • Good knowledge of ITIL service delivery framework.
    • Knowledge of Project Management methodology and tools
    • Hands-on experience in configuring and managing Cisco equipment and technology, including Switches, Firewalls, Hyper-V, UTM devices.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading ICT projects, architectures, systems, and processes.
    • Background in programming Visual Basic, Java, PHP, C/C++, C#, etc.
    • Knowledge of OPC industrial communication standards; DA, UA, XI, XML-DA, etc.
    • Troubleshoot, manage and resolve all Microsoft Exchange, Office and Active Directory related infrastructure.

    Education & Requirements:

    •  Bachelors Degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering 
    • Minimum of 3 - 4 years’ experience in a medium/big-sized company, preferably with a System Integration focus
    • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification an advantage.
    • CRISC, CISSO Certification an advantage.
