    Talent Development Consultant (Instructional Design)

    Position Description:

    As part of the People Shared Services that provides excellent service and employee experience for over 23,000 employees, the primary responsibility of the Talent Development Consultant (Instructional Design) is to ensure the end-to-end instructional design of all training requirements (management skills; competencies; technical; product; systems; projects; etc.) that will result in meaningful and engaging user experiences that best fit the digital learning content, audience and competency/change targeted. You will ensure that all learning principles and styles are considered and applied appropriately, actively participate in brainstorming sessions and create the curriculum structure to compile information into digital learning content. The successful incumbent will ensure professional consultation with the business (relevant managers and employees) focused on delivering exceptional customer service in a continuously improving efficient and effective way that achieves Service Level Agreement standards. 

     

    As the Talent Development Consultant (Instructional Design), your primary responsibilities will be to:

    • Collaborate with business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify and obtain course content

    • Contribute to or lead design/brainstorming/idea generation sessions

    • Design curricula or programs for blended learning delivery (incl. F2F, Digital, etc.) aligned to the 5Di principle | ADDIE Model

    • Develop course frameworks, storyboards etc. and brief these into the Digital Learning Centre (DLC), where applicable

    • Apply tested instructional design theories, practices and methods aligned to all delivery methods (strong preference for digital delivery)

    • Develop evaluation and assessment of the instruction and its impact

    • Ensure design SLAs are met

    • Effectively collaborate with business stakeholders and other roles in the Talent domain or DLC and negotiating timelines whenever necessary

    • Coach and/or mentor within your domain when required

    • Remain abreast of emerging trends and technologies in all areas of learning, incl. digital

    • Provide input into internal processes and digital methodology to aid continuous improvement

    • Brief in project requirements to the DLC pipeline where applicable

    • Co-ordinate workflow internally from design to handover to the DLC

    • Provide internal QA and peer review 

    Additional ad-hoc responsibilities based on resource needs, could include to:

    • Assist the Talent Development team and broader People Shared Services according to resource needs (valley periods, emergencies, projects) which can include:

      • Supporting the management of all SETA funded programmes; BBBEE scorecard improvements; programme completion and absorption; and detailed tracking of all SETA activities to best meet reporting requirements

      • Supporting the end-to-end delivery of TFG funded learning and development interventions - internally or externally

    To apply you need to have:

    • A qualification in Instructional Design or relevant ETDP related Qualification (essential)

    • More than 5 years’ proven working experience in Talent Development field

    • At least 3+ years’ experience in digital learning environment preferred

    • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models – digital preferred

    • Lesson and curriculum planning skills – digital preferred

    • Able to create high quality course framework and storyboards

    • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts

    • Visual design skills advantageous (Photoshop, Illustrator etc.)

    • A willingness to learn and a focus on continuous improvement

    • A passion for storytelling

    • Resilient in the face of obstacles

    • Able to co-ordinate projects and project teams

    • Able to work in a fast-paced, highly pressurised and deadline driven environment

    • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills

    • Excellent attention to detail

    • Passionate about the user experience/customer service
