Tax and Reporting Accountant at Communicare NPC

• As a successful candidate you will manage the output of the financial accounting function by maintaining the internal control environment and ensuring compliance with statutory and International Financial Reporting Standards’ requirements.

Your roles and responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting, Planning and Analysis
• Oversee month end closure in line with financial deadlines
• Manage and improve speed of monthly and quarterly close by automating business processes
• Monthly balance sheet recon reviews
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports as relates to the financial accounting division
• Manage and document finance processes
• Year-end closure and audit file preparation
• Achieve organizational standards on annual internal and external audits
• Group Annual Financial Statement preparation in terms of IFRS
• Review internal processes and suggest improvements which would assist the department/company in being more efficient/effective
• Assist with special projects, cost control initiatives and monitoring of company performance
• Integration of new acquisitions and joint ventures

Statutory/Taxation

• Ensure that general ledger transactions are recorded in ERP system in line with SA Income Tax Act and VAT Act requirements
• Prepare group Provisional Tax Computations and related schedules.
• Prepare and maintain group tax forecast models to accurately predict and forecast tax liabilities of the group
• Preparation and submission of monthly group VAT recons and returns

People Management

• Manage the outputs of the accounts receivable functions
• Manage the outputs of the Debt Collection team function
• Conduct team meetings
• Schedule and co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of team members
• Manage leave
• Co-ordinate the team to deliver on projects as informed by manager
• Assist the manager with recruiting and selecting new team members
• Set performance goals and review the performance of all team members
• Monitor and actively manage team cohesion and individual motivation
• Orientate, train, mentor, coach and develop team members to be competent on all aspects of their work
• Guide team members on escalated queries

System Administration

• Deal with administration of electronic procurement, budgeting, and ERP systems (including ancillary electronic systems)
• Design and prepare KPI reports to measure system efficiency and output
• Maintain and continuously improve business processes related to systems

General Duties

• Review company policies as they relate to the finance department and motivate any amendments if necessary
• Review internal processes and suggest improvements which would assist the department/company in being more efficient/effective
• Assist with special projects, cost control initiatives and monitoring of company performance
• Review and release of payments on the banking platform
• Ad hoc duties as required

Requirements
Qualification and Requirements:   

• Bachelor's degree (B.Com) from a three-year College or University
• At least 3 years post articles relevant experience, with 2 years of supervisory experience
• Completed SAICA articles/CA (SA)/CIMA
• Knowledge and understanding of the South African Income Tax Act and International Financial Reporting Standards.
