Job Description
An opportunity exists for a Tax Foreign Trade Governance Manager. The area of responsibility would be Africa South of the Equator (ASE) which includes; South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia, Kenya, Angola and Zambia.
The purpose of the role is to monitor the business activities in the set region consistently to ensure compliance with the provisions of tax legislation: domestic and international. This includes the following tax topics: Customs & Excise, Corporate Income Tax (including withholding tax), Transfer Pricing, Permanent Establishments, VAT/GST, Payroll- and other taxes.
The role will also support in identifying and managing tax & customs risks in doing business in Africa, and to work closely with the divisions to ensure full trade compliance.
Responsibilities would include but are not limited to providing customs expertise and perform governance functions for ASE operations. The role is a central, strategic, supporting and governing function for activities of ASE entities as follow:
Customs import and export governance
Supply chain security
Origin of goods & preferences governance.
Automotive Production Development Plan (APDP) governance
Monitoring of legal environment in target countries
Implementation of legal regulations at Bosch entities
Prepare binding rules for sensitive topics like customs valuation, customs procedures, export control, etc. within regional governance function.
Reviewing of key business processes relating to import, export & FTA’s and recommend improvements.
Single contact to Tax authorities and other government regulatory bodies (e.g. ITAC & DTIC)
Provide legal expertise and consulting for business unit, regards to all Foreign Trade issues related to target countries in ASE
Compile submissions on matters relating to customs & excise and manage relationships with third party stakeholders.
Track the applications of various submissions to tax authorities & other regulatory bodies
Audit Management – setting up audit team and roles, conducting lessons learned process.
Identification and management of risks.
Develop and initiate implementation of internal controls for sensitive operations at Bosch entities.
Represent Bosch at relevant trade body forums to remain up to date on requirements and opportunities.
Support and Manage HS classification for all target countries
Support in export control topics.
Ad Hoc Tax & Customs tasks
Experience required;
5 years+ working experience in a similar strategic role of which at least 3 years should be in a leadership role
5 years+ working experience, in Corporate Income Tax, VAT and customs topics
5 years + working experience advising on legal and governance topics
Advanced skills on MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
Knowledge of APDP will be advantageous

Qualifications
Matric / Grade 12 and a 3 - 4 year Degree in Finance, Tax, International Trade or Commercial Law
